So guys, it is with a heavy heart that I write this post. This morning I received a phone call from a family member, that my 65y/o cousin Steve (whom I have always called my uncle; and who is the only male role model I have ever had to look up to) was in the ER and had suffered a major heart attack. I rushed to the hospital and was informed that he had been moved and was directed to the room he was in. I went upstairs and met with my cousin Mary (Steve's wife of 48 years) and she informed me that the information I received was wrong and they were thinking he had a stroke. Well it turns out after multiple test and CT Scans that a stroke was also not the case, and that his high blood pressure, which he had quit taking his meds for had caused a blood vessel to burst in his brain. He is currently in the Neuroscience ICU wing of the John Muir medical center and the outlook is grim. The doctor told us that even if he regains consciousness that he has suffered severe permanent brain damage and he will never recover 100%. They are going to attempt removing his breathing tube tomorrow to see whether he'll be able to breathe on his own, but they are not expecting a positive outcome.
Please offer up a prayer for Steve, and for our whole family; we are taking this very hard and it's not looking like there is much the doctors can do but wait and see whether he progresses or digresses.

I'm terribly sorry to hear of this tragedy, sir.

Mega-prayers for Steve and all family members in this hour of need.

Arjay

Thanks Riley. I'm hanging in there. I would like to be optimistic, but the doctors told us that even if it seems that he can't hear us, that we may want to say our goodbyes. In times like these I just hope that he understands how much he is loved.

Thanks Arjay, it is truly appreciated. We are a pretty tight family, and Steve, although married in, is very close with all of us. He was my hero when I was a kid, and tried his best to step up for all us kids who had no dad around.

Prayers and Hope to you and your family from St Louis. Stay hopeful, my mother had the same thing happen and the prognosis was bad, but she pulled through and recovered and lived for another 20 years.
