This is a collaboration with two others and based on the story of Johnny Kool, a real person, that we put to music. I'm adding the lyrics because they're kinda hard to understand during the song.

A Pirate's Life

He was born to the sea, took lobster by trade,
George's Bank is where his livin' was made.
Life was the ocean, vibrant and hearty,
Tossed on the swells, it's the fisherman's party!

The feel, the rush, the danger, the storm,
Yet life on dry land, it stabbed like a thorn.
The boat rests at dock, and inside he grieves,
An ignorant pirate is all they could see.

A Pirate's Life, livin' a dream,
Life on the ocean, at one with the sea,
A fisherman's dream, is not what it seems,
Life on the ocean ain't no life for me!

His friends were few, and very few knew,
Not even his captain or the ignorant crew.
Johnny Kool's treasure, let it be told,
He had the soul of a pirate, and a heart made of gold!

Repeat Chorus

He eased the pain, with smack and booze,
An ongoing battle he'd inevitably lose.
His lovers were purchased, but it was his dream,
To marry this maiden and bring love to sea.

We last spoke, nineteen-eighty-three,
We threw down some shots, and he spoke of the sea.
Very few grieved, no children or wife,
For Johnny Kool lived A Pirate's Life!

A few slashed chords on the chorus rather than the tight rhythm.
Loved it. Pirates and anarchic rock'n'roll
The two were born to be together.

I liked what I was listening to. Sounded like I would expect a Pirate song to sound. kinda rough and gruff and Evan surly at times, definitely a song of an old salt. Great song. :) :)
----Danny,

Thanks guys...these people from Wales host a monthly challenge (not a contest) to expand musical horizons and this month's topic was pirate songs. The songs have to be original and collaborations are encouraged.
