Up until now, I have used a stand or case, to keep my guitars out of harm's way. This last weekend, my new acoustic got knocked over twice and got two new dings. I Love my Grand kids and it was my own fault for not having it up out of the way. so I have officially changed My mind about Hangers. I'm installing 4 of those little beauties as wee speak. :) If I had taken your advise a couple weeks ago this wouldn't have happened. And another thing, remember when I got that ding in my Brand New TELE last winter. It also got knocked off the stand. How do you spell IDIOT :?: My Wife just told Me its Spelled Knot Head.

Good choice. I always use hangers rather than a stand because you never know what could happen. The little ones knock it over or maybe the dog runs into it. Always nice to have it out of the way

Mine hang if they are out, with the exception of two or three on stands - but ALL are in the Music Room, which is locked when I'm out of the house. The grandsons all love guitars, but as yet do not really appreciate them, so I do my best to keep their excited little hands off.

I have found that the general rule of thumb goes: Kids+Anything expensive/delicate=disaster.

+1

Neither kids nor pets are permitted into the music room!

I use guitar wall mounts or guitar cases to store my guitars at the house. I only use floor stands while I am in the middle of a session and need to walk away for just a moment or two.

I learned the hard way not to leave them in a floor stand. My kids broke one of my guitar's neck when they were 4 and 5 years old.

I too had a guitar knocked over on the stand...if I walk away it goes in case or hangs on wall..PERIOD!!
Just the other day though I had my acoustic out and doorbell rang ,so put it in case and happened to set it on the top of the coffee table real quick and in that one minute...the cat got on top and knocked it right off the table.Thank god I put it in its case....Disaster averted

I keep mine in the cases--I have nowhere to really hang them, and I've never been into that.

But each of us needs to decide what to do with them.

I find cases offer the best protection--and I still play mine.
