Yesterday my niece phoned me to tell me that my grand-niece had impressed the judges at her harp recital and that she'd only recently found out that it was me that inspired her daughter. They had come up to the house one day and I took her and her brother and sister to show them my music room and demoed some of the different gear for them.Anyway I took out my autoharp and played a few chords on it and apparently that planted the seed for Rheena to take up classical and Celtic harp.I love finding out that my love of music and influence still inspires kids to take up an instrument especially one as difficult as harp. It's nice to know that once I've taken the dirt nap there'll be others carrying on my legacy of a love of music.

Guitslinger, good on you... 8) My youngest started playing percussion in middle school and is getting really good now and we jam every week, and just a couple weeks back after one of our jams, he told me thanks...I had no idea what he was talking about until he said he appreciated that I had backed him playing drums and not trying to push him to guitar, and now after the jams he wants me to give him guitar lessons...I was astonished, sometimes you think kids are just kids and then they suprise you with thier depth.

FWIW

That's awesome guitslinger. I know from the other end of the subject how much the 'gift' of music can be; had it not been for my great aunt, I may never have gotten into playing guitar. She's been playing since 1931, and at least 10 members of my family play music thanks to her. Now my 20 month old niece smiles and dances around every time I bring the guitar out, and she has even learned to say guitar :D , although it sounds more like "uhtar".

My aunt Rene; 86 years old and still doing what she does best. Although her arthritis will only allow for a song or two at a time she is still one of the best guitarists I've ever heard play.
