I was searching a Fender here in China. I found some one in the internet, its wooden finished fender. He claims it to be genuine strat wood finish 2005 strat bought at " bath- shop- duck son and pinker " in UK . He says he wants to sell cuz he needs urgent money. Just at 2300 RMB(chinese yuan) a fake stranger and amp included. Its really cheap, less than nearly half the price of a new one. I wanna buy but I'm in confused if he is true or not. Its far away to meet him, if i want to buy i need him to deliver it to me via a delivery agent.


IS IT REALLY GENUINE??? CAN ANY ONE HELP ME???

Hi ryan5481: I live in the UK and so far as the shop is concerned, it was real but just closed in April after over 100 years of trading. So someone could have bought a guitar there - that bit of the story holds up.

However, regarding the guitar itself. The sticker on the pickguard makes you think the instrument is fairly new - but I've never seen a body like that on a new Strat. What's the seller's story on that?

It is hard to say for certain based on one unhelpful photograph, but so far as I can tell the trussrod access hole in the front of the headstock does not have either a walnut or black plastic lining to it. That alone means the guitar is either a complete fake or a Chinese made Squier with a fake logo decal added to it later.

If you are able to view and handle the instrument in person then by all means take some more photos, show us and we may be able to tell you more. Otherwise, I wouldn't buy this guitar if it is a genuine Fender Strat you want.

That was my thought also. The headstock looks strange. Doesn't look legit to me.

I also think its fake. I am not gonna go for it. And i think getting a second hand one won't be a good idea.

I've bought plenty of second hand strats, just have to do your homework before you buy. Some people are pretty cunning but no one ever takes the cash out of your hands. If you're not sure, post the pictures here before you buy. We love that genuine or fake game, good practice to stay alert

Now I am wodner buying a second hand strat would be a good idea or not. May be its a bad idea. Second hand strat's performance might not be good.

There's no reason performance should be any less than new. Plenty of new Strats hangin in stores that play terribly. Nothing a good setup cant fix.
