They're crazy, they caught sharks with a #$@*&!% noose on a plank.

That is crazy...I don't know I'm ready for the noose/plank technique.

Yeah, it's nuts. They do some craziness to attract the shark then hook the noose. The shark flips his $@!& trying to get out of it and can't dive because of the plank and just exhausts itself. They then just go scoop it up.

stingray is great shark bait. put about a 15-20lb chunk on a 20/0 hook and your in business.

20/0  No wonder you said my 10/0 were lightweight tackle. I don't think I have any plan of catching any sharks that require a 20/0. Maybe someday, but first I'll get some experience with smaller sharks.

Good luck with your shark fishing Tim.Around here we get mostly Blue and Mako with Mako providing better fight and taste.A lot of people don't like shark as it can take on a strong ammonia taste if not bled out as soon as they're caught or if they're not quite fresh this is due to the high percentage of urea in the blood. This can be rectified by soaking the fillets in milk for an hour before cooking.
I barbeque shark by simply applying a good seafood rub or I just make my own after brushing the fillets with lemon juice.

Heading out for a little offshore shark fishing this time. Leaving the house in about 20 minutes at the ungodly hour of 3am...Leaving this early, I better catch something!

So...shark reports weren't looking too hot today so we called an audible and headed offshore for Rock fish and Codfish. I bagged two Ling Cods and about 10-15 dinner plate sized rock fish. So yeah, it was a good day.

Oh yeah, btw...sea sickness sucks. I haven't been on the ocean this year until today, and although I've had plenty of trips on the bay and the delta, nothing compares to offshore fishing. I still feel like I'm rocking back and forth.
