i couldn't watch the video but oh well. one night i fell asllep watching palladia and when i woke up i saw this very pretty woman singing her heart out. there was a dude playing the crap out of a blue strat. i never caught her name. then i saw her again on a strat pack concert on the same channel. my wife said it was amy whinehouse and i said no way. i only heard the horror stories and couldn't believe it was the same person.
it's just sad to me.

All very valid...She has "had" a great Cabaret off beat Cool Jazz club feel i agree.... Our Australian Gabriella Cimi absolutely smash's her at her own game IMHO and she is 100000 Times classier and just a hard working clean living young musician, see below...Although we all know how it ain't what you know it's who you know...And right time right place take president over raw talent.....

The thing i don't get is how a multi million dollar corporation like Amy Whine house in managed like that???? I mean her management know she is a complete rat bag and they release to the press she is doing great in a hotel before her first concert on her comeback from addiction with no alcohol or drugs allowed in the room and we are looking after her 24/7 etc and the hours before the first gig she is left to absolutely obliterate herself on drugs and grog to the point were she cant stand up straight let alone sing??? WTF??? It's not as if she could dial alcohol and drugs and lock herself in a room if she was being supervised??? I mean if you were managing her after her history would you not sit with her for the whole day and not leave before her first gig??? Maybe give her a few glasses of wine before she goes out to stop the screaming and fighting but how did that happen??? Her management are completely incompetent and should be immediately fired, Fined and given not one cent....Idiots....
The stupid thing about it all is she probably just became a lot more famous....For being a wreck....Whilst super talented young class acts like Gabriella still battle on giving 150% day in day out....

I am like you Way Cool... i only ever heard of her from her drug/alcohol shenanigans. I did not know she had any chops. I need to look up some of her older stuff from the sound of it.

There are several pics where she's healthy, attractive, even pretty.

As far as her music, I would liken it to Duffy or Adele or something like that--jazzy, lounge-y soul/pop...when she's clean and sober, she has a very Unique, cool, soulful voice.

Maybe such statements are the reason why people need drugs? I don't know. I think it has to do with the resistance against accepting the world (inner/outer) the way it is. If you take drugs, you want it to be different. And here comes the clue: if you're an artist, you take your inspiration from a world behind the obviously visible. So that's where drugs and inspiration meet. It's like skating on thin ice.
