Had to quit drinkin' years ago (genetic liver disorder), so the only bars I get near are Dove Bars (of the ice cream and soap varieties). I sure miss my JW Black and a good beer on a hot day.

Been 6 years since I had Firewater. Had to quit. The Dr. said Jack Daniels, (alcohol), turns to sugar. Boo.

yeah, my brother can tell you what jack turns into.
8yrs ago they gave him 3 days at best to live. his liver shut down.
through much prayer, and the good graces of God it suddenly started working
again. 3 days turned into 5, into a week, into two weeks, into a month, into 6 month,
into WTF (the doc's). hes alive and kickin today. (again grace of God)
its the wildest story ive ever witnessed. he lives in MI. doc's from all over have studied his case file. not 1 of them have yet to come up with a "medical excuse" for what happened with him.

Gave booze up a year ago, the dock said no more for you. The only difference is now I can remember where we were the night before, and whether or not the food and music were any good.
And I feel good most of the time now. Now if I could figure out how to loose 35lbs. :)

In my case it damn near did, kill Me that is. I landed in the hospital on Dialises when my kidneys shut down. My favorite was good Scotch on the rocks, and plenty of it, every day, I was like you and could see it coming, but the craving was so strong that I couldn't overcome it. so I kept on going until it was almost to late. some how my kidneys started working again and I had dodged the bullet. THAT TIME, But I know Its out there waiting for me. I haven't had a drink for a year, But I haven't done it on my own. My Dr. saved my life but I had to ask him for help. there are lots of options open to choose from. you'll probably need HELP. Talk to your Dr.

Looks like I derailed this topic. Sorry.

Back on topic:

One of my old haunts Chilkoot Charlie's -- rustic with sawdust on the floor, two live bands at the same time, overpriced watered down drinks -- good times!

When I was in my 20's we had 3 favorites. Baldies,The Ferwood Tavern and The Back 40. the same bands rotated between them. For $10 you could dance all night and drink all the beer you could hold. my favorite band was "The Great Pretenders". :) :) :) I almost forgot one. "Judge Roy Beans" probably the wildest of them all I remember they had an upper deck. One night someone fell over the rail and that was the end. I saw a band called "Sugar Loaf" there, remember them? (Green Eyed Lady). :)

----Danny,

danny,

its not my business but i can only tell you from my own experience.
i use to be just like you mentioned when i gave it up. the guilt, shame, and stupidity
of it all kept me from talking to others about it. as time went on that changed. i became proud of myself for putting distance between me and all the booze and drugs bro.
when you get the opportunity to tell your tale, do so. eventually you will take pride in it probably the same way i did. besides, in telling, you might just help somebody. all it takes is 1 person experience to be changed by your story and the ball will roll from there.
the doctors saved you, i was saved by the grace of God. i honestly didnt miss it from day one of my journey either.

Way Cool: There are a lot of us that have learned the hard way, and your right, if we can save 1 person that hardship by talking about our experience, it's more than worth the effort. :)
