Hi guys,

So i have my '89 Charvel 375 Deluxe sitting next to my desk which i always play but never plug into my JCM2000 DSL50 half stack because i dont like the sound that much but love how it feels and plays... (although the frets are in need of some work)

I was wondering what you guys think about swapping out the pups in this guitar (it has two J100 single coils in neck and middle and a J90c in the bridge). I am heading ovet to the states in a about 7/8 weeks time and probably will be buying a new guitar (YJM hopefully ^^) and a pickup change would cost me probably around £150 including new wiring and pots etc...

I have been looking at dropping in a new tone and volume pot a 3 way selector and making the middle pickup a dummy having a tone zone in the bridge and air norton s in the neck and use the middle position of the selector as a killswitch (if possible)

let me know what you guys think!

Cheers,

Larsson

im a HUGE charvel and jackson fan and collector. love these guitars.
im with you on this guitar, the pickups are weak, and the marshall is begging you
to change those pups too, i can hear it all the way over here in the US lol.
thats a great combo (guitar/amp) right there. if i may suggest to you
a seymour duncan screamin deamin or the JB (which i use) for the buckers,
then you can go with some nice fender single coils. this combo will cover
you pretty well from metal, rock, countryish, and blues.
i like the 69er's. you can find them a lot cheaper than the MSRP price on this link.

or, you can go with the lindy blues specials in the single position.
for your viewing pleasure, here is a link to a current charvel thread already in progress.

Upgrading pickups is ALWAYS a good thing. It's the cheapest and easiest customization you can perform and it yields the most noticeable improvement of just about any mod you can make.
