man, i just changed out the strings and polished up that Cort EVL-Z4 i got and what a difference some new slinky ernie balls make! I had been playing with the strings that the guitar came with, they had rust when i first got it but i played it enough that the rust just became discoloration. So i kept putting off the new strings. So finally i got the dunlop 65 cleaner and lemon oil for the fret board and cleaned and polished it and slapped on the new strings. My god it feels like a new guitar.

Hi zenbone: good job. Some people like strings a little played in, but I like 'em best when they're brand spanking new. I really should have my stage tech change them for me every two hours - but for that I guess I'd need to get a tech. And plenty more money.

There's a flaw in every plan.

Enjoy that geet.

Cheers - C

I love that feeling especially on a new set of super slinkys...I keep a box on the shelf at all times.

yeah i buy them in those boxes of 13. I guess i was surprised because i didn't realize how ratty the old ones were. Next up is the Duesenberg but i am a little hesitant because it has some pretty elaborate tuners, like sperzels but a little more elaborate. I have to do a little research so i don't mess something up.

Exactly how I feel, I usually change my every 3 months and when I do I clean and polish the whole guitar and make her just like the day I bought her

I like my strings the best after they've had a few days to break in, and as soon as they're broken in, I usually get no more than a month out of them. I do love how smooth a new set of strings are though.

EDIT:Now that I think about it, the Dunlop strings I'm using now have been on the Tele well over a month. My previous Ernie Ball's would have been well overdue for a change by now.

you hit the nail on the head, took you a while but you hit it, lol. new strings on a guitar...installed properly... are the best they are gonna sound, in my own opinion..but the one love of mine is my acoustic, new martin sp's..lights cuz ive tried the mediums several change outs, and lights are nicer for upper neck playing. i notice and wanna change them in 5 days, lol but i cant afford it... to many friggin toys to maintain.Image no rust on any of these guitars strings. and they are played dailey..some more than others..

My wife and I would both look at your pic and see beauty bootyblues22 - it's just that I'd be looking at the guitars and she'd be looking at the lounge cover... :)

Deal! I'll get the second... :)

To be on topic for a moment, I prefer the new string sound myself but I tend to leave them on a while because I also like the mellow sounds they get. I hate feeling gunk or rough spots under my fingers though so as soon as I notice stuff like that they go.
