I have a Charvel model 3 HSS, from about 1986/87. Bright red. Cool guitar.

Don't play it now. A standard Strat is hot enough for me these days. Mine has replacement pickups on, as the original Jackson p/ups were surprisingly low output. The bridge is now an SD JB4 and the 2 single coils are Dimarzios, so it really does rock out when I need a guitar for that sort of stuff. I still have the original pickups so it can be restored to original as nec.

I understand they're becoming quite collectable now, so I may sell it.

My collaborator has a Charvel 475 deluxe with a powered boost circuit. That's another good instrument that he resolves to sell, then plugs in and loses himself for an hour or two..

Great instruments - great quality - and definitely a product of their time..

And here it is, nestled between 2 of my Strats:

I too have heard that the 80's metal guitars are getting quite a bit online. They have a following that is growing quite a bit.

Very cool guys! Sorry about the long reply I been out and about...
Way cool: I think you got me sold on getting one... Now I just got to plan on saving up till the end of the year, but I think I can do it (specially with the pro mod series, sounds like a great buy)

Adey: Very beautiful collection you got there. that charvel stands out very nicely 8)

Maybe the pro mod will come out in some new colors too... I'm really liking the arctic white, but I would like to see a taxi cab yellow...

I LOVE Charvel's colours so much. I wish I could get a proper strat in some of them.

If I come across one anywhere I'll be sure to check it out. I haven't seen a Charvel in any of the local shops for a long time though.

i dont know the words im looking for here but, you will need to look in "specialty shops" to find them. almost boutique type shops.

Yeah I know the type of places you're talking about. I was just looking at their (Charvel's) website, and I think the pickup combos available are awesome, but I'd like to see one without the Floyd.

haha that slime green color is pretty cool...

I've only came across one and that was a while back ago... and its was sort of like their wild card models in HSS, but with kind of a flamed maple top, transparent orange finish. It also had a mahogany fret board. It was on consignment and it sold later that week... :(

I tried out a few of these models. Outstanding guitars!! They just feel freaking great! Couldn't afford any of them, but if I could, I'd be all over the Gold or Orange ones. Charvel really did a nice job choosing the colors for their guitars.
