Experience Hendrix and Amazon are taking pre-orders for 'The Jimi Hendrix Experience - Winterland (5 CD Box Set, Amazon.com Exclusive) http://www.amazon.com/Winterland-Box-Set-Amazon-com-Exclusive/dp/B0055PL5KO/ref=sr_1_6?s=music&ie=UTF8&qid=1308241930&sr=1-6.

I have all six shows on bootleg, but the Hendrix family has the original soundboard tapes that are re-mastered by Eddie Karmer. It should sound great!

Mr. Houston....my new goal in life is to have my picture taken with you. It seems like I am the only guy on earth that hasn't been with you for a snapshot!!!

Thanks for the heads up on the box set, I did not grow up on Hendrix but I continue to get to know and love his music - this will be a good one for the collection.......

How many more years are they going to Mine Jimi's legacy? If this is any indication, they will be mining Eric Claptons until we commission the first Starship Enterprise!!!

I already have some Winterland bootlegs but would like to have the full set.Being a complete Jimi fanatic the new set would be right up my alley but I don't want one red cent of mine going into Janie hendrix's greedy mitts. She's not even a blood relation Hendrix but managed to somehow gain control from Al when he was in his twilight years yet Jimi's flesh and blood brothers and sisters Leon,Joseph,Pamela and Cathy get nothing.I guess I'll be downloading pirated copies for my Jimi collection and do without the liner notes which no doubt contain maudlin B.S. from janie about how she adored her big "brother" while her other "brothers" and "sisters" live in obscurity and near poverty.BTW on one of his last phone calls home he couldn't even remember her name-I guess she didn't make the impact on him that she thought she had.
Out of repect for the memory of Jimi and out of respect for his true family I refuse to give any money to Janie hendrix.I imagine that he's hitting 10,000 RPMs in his grave knowing that his true kin are living in such neglect especially when almost all of them have significant health issues.

I don't pretend to know exactly the details, but I do feel that Jimi's legacy is in better hands with Ms Hendrix and Experience Hendrix. I've never spoken to directly, but I had exchanged emails with her in the past.

One of the first things Ms Hendrix after creating 'Experience Hendrix, LLC' was to put Mitch, Noel & Billy on a paid salary! Mitch & Noel both had signed away their royalty rights back in the '80 for $100,000, Billy Cox didn't get a dime.

Cox was back repairing radios & TVs back Nashville

She also hired Hendrix fan & bootlegger Steve Pasant, Steve & I go way back as collectors. And, speaking of bootlegs, and does one figure how those bootleg tracks become available? At the time of Hendrix's death, Chas Chandler had about 30 reels of tape, maybe more, that he 'leased' to bootleggers, to live on, he had no other source of income.

This also brings to light another thing that Ms Hendrix did, 'Experience Hendrix' brought those original master reels of tape from Chandler. It's from these tapes that the 'Valleys of Neptune' album was created. Mitch also gave 'Experience Hendrix', Jimi's original cassette of 'Black Gold', before he passed.

Now, I visited Al Hendrix in 1990, he showed me the room that he had housed his Jimi's mementos, missing were a couple of gold records, the street talk is that Jimi's brother had stolen those gold records, and pawned them, that I don't know is true, or not.

As far as the money is involved, or making money, they have to be paid a salary, and if the company makes a profit, than more recordings will be remastered. Eddie Karmer not working for free, nor any of the others. The company didn't make money off of the Dagger Record http://www.jimihendrix.com/us/music-jimi/22 releases, those albums were strictly gifts to us fans.

As far as where the money goes...I don't know, but new Hendrix music is good to me.
Does anybody think Jimi was rich when he died?....everybody wanted a piece of his action when he was alive...he was being exploited from the get go by his manager and other "friends"....and has been ever since by anyone who could make a buck.
some of the most famous musicians of all times gave their music away and got little money in return.....sad but true.
Jimi just got on his spaceship and left this third stone from the sun...and all of the b/s that's here.

It like a IT company hiring a hacker....Steve knew who, & how to, get those recordings, also John McDermott has in the past two years found reels of tapes that Jimi recorded at the Record Plant. These tapes were thought to be lost.

Also, it been announced that the long OOP 'Hendrix - In The West' http://www.authentichendrix.com/Product.aspx?cp=103_47969_47971&pc=JHCD048 will be re-released. I have a copy on CD that was only released in Japan, that my brother, Larry Houston, sent me about 24 yrs ago!

Also, the 'Jimi Hendrix at RAH' movie will be released this year (I think). It will be shown, as it was intended, in theaters with a custom PA system. Here's very grainy video clip from a bootleg copy http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d3YBf8Lo4E4. BTW this is the same version of 'Little Wing' that is on 'Hendrix - In The West'.
