Those guitars are pretty sweet  just curious what pickup are you planning on putting down into the bridge?

Hi Nevin,

Nice score mate. The CV squire I played had me second guess my CP60's Strat.

I say you give it a Big Hairy Wiring upgrade...

Just kidding :D

Maybe a blend pot or a push/pull for 7 sound switching? T'is a nice cheap and effective mod that one.

Andy

Throw some Texas Specials in that bad boy, and change out all the other electronics. You could have a very nice guitar for not much scratch. Nice score. I've played a couple of rather impressive Squiers lately.

There's been some positive chat over time about totally unfinished or lightly oiled necks.

Thought is, yank the neck off, sand every bit of finish off and see how you like a "naked" neck. (The Gibson SG Faded is not-filled mahogany with a very thn sealer. Tres beaucoup sexy-feeling.)

And then, sand the face and handpaint or decal your "Nevin" logo on it.

And maybe some mini-Scahallers or Grovers in the six holes...

...have fun!

NEVIN!!!!! what is the pick up you chose and why?
i think it looks great and it's funny how you compare it to the other high end guitars. price tags don't always equal quality.

i'm actually giving mine more of an agressive garage rock vibe i hate humbuckers in single coil housing i want to make my guitar look as fat as it sounds...

Surprised, aren't ya'll! I played one of those babies several weeks ago and was amazed, to the point that I almost succumbed, like you. It's a '57, and IMHO the only thing that it lacks to be period correct is the same V-neck they put on the '57 Roadworn series. [I actually wrote to Consumer Relations and asked them to send that suggestion on to the Squier folk].If you like a clean look, upgrade the pups and leave it be. It's a gorgeous guitar. Why kill it?

'Thinking some aftermarket knobs...or drilled out dice or home-turned exotic woods...

...oh, man, a project guitar sounds like fun.

Maybe something like yours in transparent green with a mother of toilet seat pickguard and Jazzmaster pups with a 3-way....

Can't beat a little '59 when it comes to SC-sized humbuckers! Watch Nevin...all the work you're gonna do to this guitar, it's gonna be your new #1.

Nevin,

Nice find. I have been saying how good the Classic Vibe series is for a couple years. I had a CV 60. Honestly, the only modification I did to it was change the pickguard and pick-up covers.

I was planning on making my CV 60 a HSH and match the wiring/pick-up specs to that of the Dave Murray Signature Stratocaster. Unfortunately GAS got a hold of me and I used my CV 60 as a trade in for my Blacktop Stratocaster. It already had mostly all I was looking for.

I plan on picking up another Classic Vibe 50 or 60 later on down the road, but for now I am GASing for the Speaker Cab for my Mustang V amp.

Keep posting the pics of your modifications, always love a good guitar mod.

If the guitar I bought was Lake Placid Blue it would be ideal. I love that color.

LPB is by far my favorite color for a Strat. It just screams classic Fender. Can't go wrong with sunburst either though.
