I was thinking about making this a poll... but there are just too damn many good soundtracks from the 80's ... Funny because they are all mostly between 1983 to 1987....

Mine is close between Valley Girl, Fast Times, and Pretty in Pink... Keep in mind this is your "FAVORITE"... and I am a sucker for 80's new wave and punk...

But my fav will have to be Valley Girl...

Oh and a honorable mention to Suburbia... for all you harCore lovers out there..

Probably "Pretty in Pink," although "Top Gun" (both the movie and the soundtrack) remains a guilty pleasure...

I'm afraid it'll have to be The Breakfast Club. Absolutely LOVE that title track, later sold to Simple Minds... hence why it was the only good song they did, 'cuz they didn't write it...

Also a huge fan of the Beverly Hills Cop soundtrack. Just pure '80s cheese!

Top gun shouldn't be a guilty pleasure... That soundtrack has some very well respected artists on it... Those who disagree should take a second look at what is on that album...

Gotta do a +1 for "The Breakfast Club."

No, wait, it's too much of a tie...!

Valley Girl

Hairspray

Back To The Beach--Stevie Ray and Dick Dale do "Pipeline" as it has never been done!

There's also Local Hero (Mark Knopfler), The Big Chill and Cocktail on my list.

"Local Hero" is excellent, but kinda classy compared with the others which are coming up.

Heavy Metal
Streets of Fire
Purple Rain
Dirty Dancing

Indeed... the '80s was about shameless showboating, from what I can make out. Big hair, big shoulderpads... and that was just the men...

There's a film called The Business or something... one of those standard British 'gangster' films... has an awesome '80s soundtrack, helps that it was made in the '00s.
