Yes, another good choice. Good guitarist and composer, hard worker, except when the substance abuse got the best of him. Filling Duane's shoes.... or rather the work that both he and Duane did before the accident was a tall order, but he was talented enough to pull it off.

I agree, and it's sad that after being the front man for years after Duane and Berry were gone that they fired Dickey, really a sad ending to his career with the Brothers...it's been speculated that Berry would have stepped up in the leader position but he never fully recovered from Duane's death.
I recently saw an interview with Gregg, and in one part he was talking about what the band was going through after Duane's death and who would or could be the leader in a way,and he said "don't look at me,I just happen to have the same last name."
they were a real band of brothers, but Duane was the undisputed leader who inspired and lead by example.

although great tunes mentioned I would want to compose the album "Tommy", I mean come guys that was an amazing piece of music

+100 on that Stryder.. The whole album is great, but "Listening to You/See Me, Feel Me, Touch Me, Heal Me.." is one of the best album climaxes ever. It's right up there with the medley at the end of side 2 Abbey Road, and "Brain Damage/Any Colour You Like/Eclipse" from Dark Side of the Moon..

Right now I'm locked into "Cause We've Ended As Lovers" and more recently "Hammerhead" (from Emotion & Commotion) both by Jeff Beck.

Still Got The Blues - Gary Moore. I think it's still the best solo I ever heard.

Rebsol,

Have you read "Skydog"? If you have not you might want to get a copy. Good insight into the band and the Bros.

Yes I've read Skydog,it's a good book....there's another book out called Midnight Riders, the Story of The Allman Brothers Band,by Scott Freeman I think his name is,it came out a good while before Skydog but the surviving original members of the band called it trash...either Gregg or Butch said "it wouldn't even make good toilet paper". :?
I thought it was a good read also, but evidently there was a lot of stuff that was inaccurate, things that the average reader wouldn't know as truth or falsehood.
Over the last 42 years I've read pretty much everything I could about Duane Allman....the Allman family came from the same county in Tennessee that I was born in,the brothers spent lots of their early days in Dickson Co. Tn. and Nashville.
I knew their grandmother and I named one of my sons after Duane,we took him when he was a baby in 1981 to see her and I gave her a copy of "Guitar Player" magazine,an anniversary edition with Duane on the cover, she looked at it and said..."oh..yeah,I didn't recognize him with all that hair." :D
