ok guys not sure this is a good idea but orichrists dave murray guitar is soo beautiful and i've seen loads of project guitars here and i thought to myself as i saw his thread in the unofficial warmoth forum... the fender forum should have a "guitar project of the month award" i know it's kinda based on the warmoth forums idea but here it wouldn't matter if we made guitars with fender parts or squier parts or warmoth parts... heck we could even mix up two different fender guitars we like as long as it's based on fender guitars... we could poll up the nominees and by the end of each month what you guys think? should we go with ahead with this?

Why, Fender don't want you to build guitars from parts. They want you to buy complete guitars from them.

I'm surprised they tolerate build and DIY threads at all.

true but wouldn't modding a guitar with fender parts count as a project? plus all the guitars here are based on fenders... i think it'd be a good way to show them what the customer wants... i see the forum as the voice of the customer...

i disagree i think we all express our opinions without arguing... my iconic basses poll is living proof of that... plus if it's with votes i don't think there is a lot to argue over... plus we can nominate the ones we like the most... and i guess we could nominate a comission to help organise things

To FMIC's credit, they seem to be very forgiving of "blasphemers" such as myself.

And just how, exactly, does this serve Fender's raison d'etre of selling guitars and amps for profit?

easy it doesn't... but is the forum to obtain profit or for fender players to unite and talk about guitars? i don't see how the forum helps them profit honestly

The forum is an adjunct to the company's primary objective and helps to maintain members' interest in purchasing new Fender products.

Period.

i can see both sides of the discussion but i think that the underlying thing is most everyone here owns and supports Fender. The goodwill created by this forum and the tolerance to talk about other gear is part of what makes me like them even more. If they were really tight with modding and deleting threads i would not be here and interact as much. I think the community reflects the brand, cool and laid back. In the long run i show my support with my dollars and fender has really given me lots of reasons to be brand loyal and this forum is one of them.

When in doubt...ask the Moderator of the Forum.

And regarding its primary purpose, this forum has performed its function -- to the symbiotic benefit of us all. But ultimately, the forum is intended to help contribute to FMIC's bottom line. That's the nature of for profit business.

Well, there goes my partscaster thread. It was a humdinger, too. Fender, to me, never seems to get the neck right. Frets, profile. Great EC v neck, vintage frets, for example. Then they won't let you order a neck from them. So to me, you have to build your own. I didn't want to do it, I swear. 8)
