Gearaholics, yes - anonymous, no. I've learned to live with my condition.

Next likely purchase is a Richmond Belmont w/ Bigsby. I am one sick puppy.

I bought two guitars very early in the year, a Jeff Beck and a Plus Deluxe and am not really GASing for anything. I'm amazed at myself for not buying anything else this year. I mean the DRRi is really nice in the wine red covering, and that Schecter Hellcat I've had my eye on is cool too, and I already have plenty of Strats but the Axl SRO looks nice also
OHNO  I Feel it coming on again OHNO

  2 questions CR...
1. Did you get a deal on the Gdecs ? and
2. What time does the store open?
Nice....
I've been in some small Mom and Pops that don't have that much. Not to mention the CD collection.

There will always be something else, though, I agree with others that I have what I need. But GAS isn't about need, it's about lust. These days I'm GASing less for guitars and more for tube amps, pedals, recording gear (especially a nice preamp) and plug-ins. And a MIDI controller.

Yes, I got a pretty good deal on the G-DECs. At one time I had six of the original G-DEC 30 amps because I used them all the time to play out and I dedicated two each to the different music genres I was doing - very limited memories in those amps and very time consuming to load your backing tracks. I have since sold two of the original G-DECs, but I am hanging onto the others for the time being. They are still very handy for making MIDI backing tracks and then converting same to Wave or mp3. I still use them a lot in the Music Room, along with the two new G-DEC 3 Thirty amps I bought back in February.

The CD collection is HUGE, to say the least. I started buying CDs in the early 80s when they first started coming out. At one time I had 3,800 CDs - now I have trimmed back to just 3,200 which include every song that ever made Billboard's Top 40 from 1955 to 1985 and almost every Top 100 song. I also have very complete collections of SURF music, ROCKABILLY music and BLUES; three of my all time favorite genres.

And I still have a lot of stuff in two storerooms close by...

These are the guitars that have cases and don't come out as often.

The walls are simple tongue & groove knotty pine, finished natural with two coats of sprayed lacquer. The basement Music Room was originally nasty dark paneling and moldy sheetrock, but I tore all of that out, studded out from the stone walls, insulated, installed a moisture barrier and then put up the pine boards. I bought all the pine at Home Depot, just waited until they'd broken open a new shipment, then picked all the best stock.

It does make a great room and you don't have to look for studs. I put in a lot of outlets in almost all the right places, stuck up 17 String Swing guitar hangers and that was it. It's my favorite place to be.

CR I bought one of the early Gdec 15s. The first one had problems. Fender gave me a new one no problems since. However it sits in the bedroom as a noodling amp. Imagine my surprise when I figured out I could change the key signature in the presets...wooh whoo... Should have read the directions...

I think the Gdec3 is a big improvement over the original. Enjoyed the tour of your music man cave...

Do I ever have it bad! After 9 Fenders, I was going to stop when I found a mint Jaguar. Then, along came a mint early Toronado and I'm still after my Jag. BTW, they are hard to find, if you have one, don't be too fast to part with it (but I'm sure you know this)!! Before that a Japanese Thinline was on Craigslist so cheap that I couldn't pass it up. Before that it was Graffiti Yellow! I live in St Louis and I can't believe the prices people have been accepting for very, very nice Fenders. If I was only a fair player I would feel better owning all this eye candy. I've been spending too much time buying, then polishing and admiring, than practicing. I'm going to the other room to look at them now, don't tell me I need help.

My GAS seems to be accelerating as I get older, My collection is still very modest in comparison to many here but I find that the "itch" digs at me more and more as I see things I like. Last year I had to sell one of my Jags as we were short of money coming up to christmas and it was mortifying...so much so that I did some extra jobs on the side over a few months this year to save for my Blacktop.. not quite the replacement I had in mind but I love it all the same.

Amps are becoming my thing at the moment, Done guitars (although no where near my alltime list) done effects, done studio... I blew the speaker in my 112 plus last week and I'm already eyeing up several other amps aswell as planning to replace the speaker in the 112.

Im still on the lookout for that elusive Squier Vista series supersonic too, If anyone in the UK knows of one available

Well, it was another sad day of GAS affliction. I was at Staples' UPS counter getting an estimate for shipping one of my beloved guitars off to a fellow in Canada who wanted it a lot more than I needed it. I got the estimate and was headed out to my truck when I looked up and saw our local Guitar Center about 100' away. Next thing I knew I was in the store in a daze, winding my way back toward the Trade-In Corner... and there it was... hanging there in all of its glory...

Image

Image

I turned around to find my favorite sales rep standing there at my shoulder. "She's a beauty, ain't she, Denny," he whispered in my ear. "And only $319." I asked when they'd taken her in and he said just yesterday - you're the first to hold her since we hung her up. Snake oil oozed from his pores. But once I had her in my hand, it was already too late for me.

Then I turned around and saw a poor pathetic amp sitting on the floor over in the Clearance Corner and I felt my heart going out to it. A gorgeous little Blues Junior in black Tolex marked down to a paltry $379. I asked Jeremy what the story was on the amp. She's got to go, he told me, we've got to make room for prettier amps. I scooped the poor thing up in my other arm and headed for the counter.

Image

Jeremy followed me like I was a lamb going to slaughter and he was holding the blade. He sneered and said, will that be all? No, I said, I have a little coupon here that says $100 off any total purchase over $499. His sneer turned to chagrin as he took the coupon from my hand and looked it over. So a 60th Anniversary MIM Strat in Blizzard Pearl went from being $319 to being $269 and the little Blues Junior went from $379 to $329, all in the blink of an eye.

Image

And now that they are safely here in the Music Room, I thought I should come on this Forum again and confess my weakness to those who are stronger than I.
