I use something very similar to this Martin guitar hanger.

Mine are made by JHS. Dunno if you get them over your way.

Just found the stud in the wall and fixed it onto that. It's easy to find the studs in a wall. Just tap across the wall. You'll hear a less hollow sound where there is a stud.

Yep you're right the case is the safest storage option.

I use the same one and have no issues. Works well with all my guitars.

I use String Swing brands and have had no neck/tension issues. In a hardshell case standing upright is probably the best (and safest for the finish, no fading or scratches from accidental bumps), but what looks better--a row of cases or a wall covered with guitars?

Thanks for the info guys. This definately sets my mind at ease to hear no-one has had any problems with hangers. I'll have to check the shop to see what brands they carry in town otherwise I'll hit the net!

I'd just go for the Hercules straight from the 'Net if I were you. I mean... it's not like buying a guitar sight unseen, it's more a case of just hoping it doesn't break.

Vlad, I like your style. Welcome to the forums! Enjoy your stay! :)

I never had a problem with hanging my guitars. Some people hang their guitars even by a piece of string... especially if they are Swedish molto-importante rock gods....

Here are some of mine... I use K&M hangers, though I can highly recommend teh Hercules as well.

Cheers! :) been a while since I've been hiding on a gear forum... nice to know we all use such threads to still purvey sexual gear!

Wow...I really dig that guitar! Very nice...

Thanks! It's a 1999 Lone Star. Totally standard, bar the Sperzels at the top. It was so cheap I couldn't justify leaving it on the market for someone else to snag... so I didn't. :p

Yodacaster,

I have been hanging my guitar up on the wall for 16 years. Ever since my son and daughter (then 4 and 5 years old) knocked over one of my oldest and most favorite guitar I ever owned. They ended up breaking the neck. The rest of my guitars went up on the wall that night.

I just recently switched all my wall hangers to the Hurcules brand wall hangers. I like the additional security of weight-assisted locks holding my guitar in place. Also, I switched out my floor stands to the Hurcules floor stand for the same reason.

As someone else mentioned, nothing beats a hard shell case for protection of a guitar. But if play everyday, it can be a pain in the arse to pull it out of the case every time you play.

Personal preference is the String Swing, pictured above.

'Hung a finished, moulded 1x4 inch strip of oak, 8 ft long, anchored into each stud (buy an electronic sonar stud finder, they are cheap) with 3" #12 screws. Attach the String Swings to that.
