Whether they know it or not most guitarists are playing sax lines note for note when playing the pentatonic blues scale.I was never a big sax fan but the first time I heard the Born To Run album and C.C.'s sax playing I was hooked and immediately ran out and bought The Boss's first 3 albums.C.C.'s playing has a certain nuance to it that is readily identifiable just as Jimi's guitar playing.I wish him a fast and full recovery as he is an indispenseable member of the E-Street Band and certainly idolized by millions.

I used to live at the Jersey Shore. Clarence walks on water around there. This is not good news at all. As most people know, most of Springsteen's and the E-Street Band's songs are all about that area and people (the early stuff at least).

That band has done so much for the area. They/we love Clarence and hope he recovers and gets well soon. He apparently was hoping for a 2012 tour with Bruce and the boys.

edited to add : (from Springsteen's backroads.com site)

"MIRACLES ARE HAPPENING"
The latest out of Florida has Clarence Clemons in better condition than anyone expected, a close friend tells Backstreets: "Yesterday, it did not look good at all. Today... miracles are happening. His vital signs are improving. He's responsive. His eyes are welling up when we're talking to him. He was paralyzed on his left side, but now he's squeezing with his left hand. This is the best news we've heard since [the stroke] happened — it's nothing short of miraculous. The next five days will still be critical. But he's a fighter."

thanks for posting, phreddybee. I heard about this earlier today and am hoping that Clarence Clemons has a speedy recovery.

He's 69 years old. In the last year or so he has had both knees replaced and undergone back sugery. According to the APP 2 brain proceedures were performed as a result of the stroke.
That he is doing as well as he is this early on is nothing short of amazing imho.
