Definitely a dvd for the collection, personally i didn't think it was the best. I felt the line up was better in previous years and that the whole deal seemed as if it was put together last minute. nonetheless, i have a copy and still put it on from time to time.

The first one in 2004 was the best, IMO...I know because I was there!

I found out about it a year before the event and booked a room in downtown Dallas, about 5mi from fairgrounds/Cotten Bowl, it was three days of guitar heaven.

The only thing was, that no camera's were allowed! I snuck my in on the first day, but didn't try it on the next couple of days.

Here's a picture of me & Shane Nicholas, Senior Product Manager of Fender Guitar at the Fender display on that first day. I've known Shane since his Fender demo days.

I was there in 2004, too...if you look really closely at 24:52 on DVD 1, you still won't see me. :P

I got to go on Sunday in 2004; it was spectacular! The only criticism I had was how they let Carlos Santana wank his guitar for thirty minutes...then he started the second song. His stage selfishness cut Jeff Beck's portion down to one short song, because in Dallas, if you're still playing one of the big outdoor stadiums past 11:00PM, you get a gigantic fine and lots of grief.

I have not watched the second Crossroads set, but 1 & 3 were great.

I'm a big Santana fan, as well as Jeff Beck, but the stage timing was way off, IMO. The blues jam with BB, Buddy, JV, EC & John Mayer went almost 40min longer than scheduled as I remember.

We left in the middle of ZZ Top because of the lightning..

All three Crossroads were great and I like all three for different reasons, although #2 was scheduled to have a finale with EC and ZZ Top but the lightning pre-empted it...would have loved to see those two together...would have been awesome.

FWIW

Susan Tedeschi and Derek Trucks doing 'Space Captain' and 'Midnight in Harlem' were the highlights, IMO.
