I always enjoy looking at other players, members here of all levels a bit of free instruction is always useful, Roberts are some of the best ones, I can see Supro's point, but I look at it as a music related freeby so all's good by me, as for money I'm a stingy git, anyone comes looking for donations etc I tell them to "come back when the Missus get's home", when will that be ? " Oh a couple of weeks with good behavour I'd imagine"

Just for the record, I'm not trying to run anyone off. I have no problem with Robert posting his Youtube lessons, but remove the link to the commercial pay sight. I like free stuff too. You can find that on your own. Like I said, nobody else can do it. I've been around here for a long time and have seen others get banned for doing the same thing. Not just handbags, shoes and enhancement pills.

I see no problem with Robert listing a link to his site on the Forum. There are several Forum members-who I won't name-who are quite respected and they list their websites and the products that they are distributers/agents for.Dolphin St. doesn't actively recruit business for his service nor is anyone obligated to buy his wares.I find that his free tutorials are a welcome addition to the forum and if someone wants to avail of his commercial product-that's their perogative. It's not like people who have come on here boldly advertising health foods and other spam unrelated to music. He has his website discretely placed at the bottom of his posts so I won't be getting my knickers in a knot over it when there much more troubling issues to be concerned with.Rock ON Robert!!!

Including your website in your signature has more to do with disclosure than it does with marketing. If you're running a photography business that has no relation to the subject matter of the forum, there's relatively little at risk of not disclosing that.

But if you run a website where there are products for sale that are VERY related to the subject matter of the forum, it is actually considered bad form NOT to include this in your signature.

These rules may vary from forum to forum, but I know for a fact that on TGP, it's quite important that this be included, as well as any information about who you have special arrangements (endorsements) with.

I am so new to this site and music I am not only a newbie, but noobly. I have read this section and have to shake my head.
Thanks to this site and the people that post here I picked the guitar that was in line for what I wanted and a amp to go along with it. you guys have posted awesome information which was a great help and made sure my money where I needed to put it.. I have seen some of the video's you guys have posted of you playing and all I could say was "OMFG"
Now about the said site and him pushing his stuff, well i never got pop-up or spam email from his site...its your option to click on the pay-pal thingy..but his online lessons have helped me when i go for my lesson and makes what my teacher is trying to explain...but this is the way of the world these days..and does not matter what site/forum you go to. Somewhere on a site you will see something to click on to"Buy" or they give you part of a lesson and in order to get the rest you have to buy their dvd.

So to waste time flaming his site is a waste of time, and from guys/girls that have gave me such helpful info.
On the other hand there are posting for "Free" play back tracks. And after clicking on the link it takes me a site alright..but every download you have to pay for...never seen anyone flame the poster for sending that link..what is good for the goose is good for the gander.

Having said my peace hope you guys keep posting info that helps us Noobly kindd people..just hope that one day i can half as good as you guys do and be able to pass the info i have gotten to other.

I think most people have completely misunderstood my point. Here is the rule, I didn't make it.

This is straight from the 'Rules of Conduct"

"Don't use the forums or chats for any commercial purpose without the express consent of Fender.com. You may only create an account for yourself as an individual. You may not create an account for your corporation or other business entity."

Like I said, I have nothing against Robert, Dolphin Street or free lessons. Using a direct link to a commercial site isn't allowed. It makes no difference if it's in the body of the message or the sig line. You shouldn't bend the rules for anyone. That's why I don't do it for my business. I know many members wouldn't mind and I'd be happy to help anyone with photography questions directly. Just shoot me an email and I'll be happy to help.

And no, I'm not some kind of rotten individual or a buzzkill. I just would hate to see the forum turn into a business link fest. I belong to many other forums and most wouldn't tolerate linking a business website at all on the back of another company.

If I offended anyone, I apologize. I'm just a stickler on following the rules. They are there for a reason.

I am no longer responding to this post.

Have you contacted Brad, the Moderator of this Forum?
He has the final say.
