A metal-bodied resonator with pickups, so I can plug in and play electric.

My main target at this moment (best for the money/my budget) is the Dean Chrome G electric.

Also, a lower-wattage amplifier than my Vibroverb...the main target on this front is either the Vox AC15 (more in my price range) or the Egnator Rebel 20.

Be careful if you end up seriously looking at that Dean. I had an Exotica FM Acoustic/Electric, it developed a very bad fret buzz that no setup was able to fix. I got rid of it as quick as I could. Quality was really poor compared to other guitars in the price range. Could have just been that I got a bad one.

I've heard both good and bad regarding Dean, too.

There are very few of the Dean electrics that excite me...I liked the old Explorer copies that ZZ Top used to play in the 1980s, but I just can't stomach the various Dimebag models (no offense to my fellow Texicano, he had a lot of talent but I just don't like his guitars).

The only problem I have is the lack of affordable metal-bodied resonators out there; the most affordable ones I have found (that have pickups or the ability to upgrade w/.electronics) have been out of my price range.

...the Chrome G (of which I've played five different ones) is affordable and sounds reasonably good through a non-acoustic amp. It's the best National-style resonator on the market for the price (at least that I have found).

Well...I see your conundrum. I'm sure if you're careful you'll get a good one. And yeah, as big of a Dime fan as I've always been; he had some strange ideas when it came to guitars (and tone for that matter). His latest guitar (razorback) was one of the ugliest abominations to ever hit the market.

I've owned 2 PRS guitars...a '94 CE 24 Bolt on and a '08 Johnny Hiland....the former a rosewood board, the latter, maple, both lovely instruments, well made, but PRS necks are just not for my hand. There's never been a V-neck in the line, to the best of my knowledge.

After searching and researching for a good, affordable vibe pedal, I'm (almost) ready to pull the trigger for a Wilson Effects Haze Vibe. My Dano Cool Cat Vibe is great for the money, but I'm looking for something a bit more polished. No one makes an affordable stereo vibe pedal.

Blacktop Jaguar. Or Blacktop Telecaster. Or Blacktop Strat. Or, heck, all three.

Honestly, I've had a Deluxe Strat for years and love the thing, but there's a problem -- thick, crusty distortion that can only be produced by a humbucker. I could either stick with my DiMarzio HS-3 Stack humbucking pickup, get the bridge position routed for a "real" humbucker or get a new guitar and let the Strat be a Strat. I was thinking about a Gibson Les Paul Studio until I read about the Blacktop series. Went to the local Guitar Center and played a Jaguar and Strat (love the coil tapping on the Strat).

Wow. Just plain wow. A Fender feel and roaring humbuckers? Great combination and those things are dirt cheap. My only gripe is that it's not made in America. Still, Fender has a winner on its hands with the Blacktop line -- the feel of the instruments, sheer "bang for the buck" and tone are hard to beat.

After having recently done some guitar horse trading which included the loss of my old tweed Blues Deluxe and my '89 G&L ASAT in favour of my new Super-Sonic 22 amp and 1957-2007 Commemorative "Mary Kaye" AVRI Strat, which is a simply stunning guitar, and a very tasty contrast to my mid boosted lace-sensor equipped USA honey blond Buddy Guy, my GAS is for the moment fairly well fed and comfortably dozing away :)

However I find myself "Telecasterless" (not counting my St Blues T-type guitar), so that's the next on the hit list :

I can't decide between a 'butterscotch blonde' blackguard type, something USA or perhaps a Baja, or a Candy Apple Red 62 re-issue type (I had a Japanese one years ago), maybe when the time comes I'll just go see what's "Out There" :) The JD Tele is...interesting, and I also do love the look of the surf green 'bound 62 AVRI Tele I must admit, maybe one will turn up used when I have some cash :)

But prior to all that, I'd like a clearer more articulate Vibe pedal than my Dunlop UV-1SC, perhaps a Deja Vibe ;)

A tremolo pedal. I think I'll try some out tonight and listen to the difference between the Dano $39.99 model and the Voodoo labs $129.99 model.

Aaaargh humbuckers .. and wot a price !

Actually the recent 60th Anniversary Tele would be more my thing .. seen a few recently, but I refuse to let myself play one in case it infects me with GAS all over again, and I'm broke ;)

Next on my list is a Rick 360/12 or 325 64 John Lennon model with toaster pups on both. I'm now taking Champix to stop smoking and figure that I'll be able to save almost $300 a month if I set aside the money I regularly spent on smokes.
