I've been getting tempted to try modding a Vintage Modified Squier Jazzmaster, similiar to the one in the Squier forum, but also adding P-90s.

I made a couple of additional updates. Aged white tips on the switch & trem and replaced the bridge with a Schaller Roller Bridge. The strings high e string was really close to the edge of the fretboard, and the new bridge allows you to adjust string spacing. Now the spacing is perfect! :)

Looks nice! I've thought about a similiar thing and adding P-90s. I wish those
vintage tuners were still standard issue.

I'd do that with their red VM '57 Strat, and throw an EMG SA set in there with the EXP and SPC, but for the fact that the guitar doesn't have the same neck the '57 Road Worn has. How do you not put a period correct neck on a guitar. Sometimes Fender does things that make me wonder. Squier's R&D team seriously needs an Eldred-type at the wheel, not someone asleep.

An acoustic guitar. Most likely Stratacoustic.

Heard a Frontman 212 matched to a multieffects pedal. For the money, a damn powerful sound.

If I get another guitar--probably a flat top 6 string acoustic--I have a classical and a 12 string for acoustic guitars, but no flat top 6 string.

other gear?
a small tube amp, maybe.

Saving the pennies for a used J45 or a used Larrivee preferably from the '70's

a tube amp is definitely in my future.

my first amp was a brown princeton in the early sixties. i sold it a few years ago with the original tubes still in it.

since the late 60's i've owned solid state models, but that will end soon

Been gassing for a Musicman Luke and or a Pettruci, and someone on this forum gave me gas for a Fulltone OCD.

A metal-bodied resonator with pickups, so I can plug in and play electric.

My main target at this moment (best for the money/my budget) is the Dean Chrome G electric.

Also, a lower-wattage amplifier than my Vibroverb...the main target on this front is either the Vox AC15 (more in my price range) or the Egnator Rebel 20.

Be careful if you end up seriously looking at that Dean. I had an Exotica FM Acoustic/Electric, it developed a very bad fret buzz that no setup was able to fix. I got rid of it as quick as I could. Quality was really poor compared to other guitars in the price range. Could have just been that I got a bad one.

I've heard both good and bad regarding Dean, too.

There are very few of the Dean electrics that excite me...I liked the old Explorer copies that ZZ Top used to play in the 1980s, but I just can't stomach the various Dimebag models (no offense to my fellow Texicano, he had a lot of talent but I just don't like his guitars).

The only problem I have is the lack of affordable metal-bodied resonators out there; the most affordable ones I have found (that have pickups or the ability to upgrade w/.electronics) have been out of my price range.

...the Chrome G (of which I've played five different ones) is affordable and sounds reasonably good through a non-acoustic amp. It's the best National-style resonator on the market for the price (at least that I have found).
