i know it's stupid but i guess when you got cash it makes you want stuff... i like my lake placid blue strat project idea but lately i've been craving other guitars i'll let you guys be the judge... i have no way of trying out these guitars if you guys have any of them give me personal experience on how they are... remember i'm looking for something affordable and i want to give humbuckers a try... the options are as follows

squier lake placid blue cv 50 strat (the guitar i want to customise and install a humbucker into but i still don't got the cash and the patience is killing me and i dunno if it'll workout (installing a seymour duncan jb i already have and putting black 3 ply 11 hole pickguard i don't have if i go ahead with it))

squier tele custom with humbuckers (it's a really beautiful and cheaper but hard to get parts to customise it and i'd love to customise this guitar (this guitar should definately come in more finishes))

epiphone g-400 sg in worn brown (love the finish the guitar looks good... does the guitar really look brown cause in some images it looks like worn cherry and i already have the cash for it... i don't see a lot i'd change on the guitar which is a shame cause that was the whole idea of buying my next guitar)

squier jagmaster (love the jazzmaster/jaguar shape this is a good way to get it but i'd have to get a jazzmaster neck or a strat neck cause i hate the shortscale conversion neck... definately needs to have new finishes)

which do i go for?

i'm a strat lover and i love lake placid blue but there are some pretty good alternatives here should i keep my idea or try someting new?

I own the jagmaster and the p90 version of the tele. The jagmaster is real nice and I don't mind the short scale at all. Pups are a little muddy, but not too bad. The tele feels great, but it has a satin neck, which may not be for everybody. I have owned it for a few months, but I have been so busy I still have really not given it the attention it deserves. As for the strat, well I love my strat, but is an American series. I have heard nothing but good things from the Squier CV line and I am very happy with my Squiers. I myself have always wanted an SG or LP but Epi's and Gibby's don't feel right in my hands. Have you checked out the Squier jazzmasters and jaguars?

I voted for the jagmaster only because I own it and have had time to bond with it.

i don't like the feel of the les paul and i've never tried an sg... as for the tele i actually like satin necks but i prefer gloss... i have checked out the squier jazzmaster but i personally find the strat jack to be iconic only to the strat so i don't like it that much

I totally agree with you on the Squier jazzmasters and jags. I may have been interested in them if they were out when I got my jagmaster but I am happy with my purchase (gift actually :D )
I prefer the look and pick up configuration of the Fender versions better.

i really don't mind anything else (hope they make an hh jazzmaster in the future) it's just that strat jack i understand that quality needs to be cut (epiphone suprisingly doesn't cut that much squier kinda cuts out in weird ways) but i don't see the reason of existance of that strat jack... (though it would be usefull if it were for the tremolo)

Have you thought about a blacktop Jazzmaster instead.I know its not HH but doesn't have that strat jack and still a descent looking piece.Kinda sucks though only two color choices.I think Novak makes some humbuckers you can throw in without crazy routing mods.Just a thought

The humbucker equipped Tele Custom would be my pick in a heartbeat.I came very close to buying one a few months ago, they sound great and for the price they're almost a no-brainer.

It's no secret that I love Lake Placid Blue...especially on a Strat. So my vote is the Strat, and then just swap in a humbucker when you get the cash for the mod. Whichever way you go I think the guitars on your list are pretty good options.

i'm not looking to get a fender cause i need this guitar to use around college(i live with three roomates but they don't go through my stuff)... but i want something i could also use to play live and mod around all at the same time... it doesn't have to be a piece of junk either...
