Indeed, sir!

Each and every D-Day anniversary, I'm reminded of this moment in recent history......

Hand salute to all who fell that day in 1944 while ridding Europe from the shackles of fascism and tyranny.

I have a lot of respect for the men who fought in WWII. Sadly, the guys that were there to witness those horrible events that changed the history of the entire world, are fewer and farther between. Take some time out today guys and thank any vets you know, sacrifices were made in that war that most will never be able to completely understand.

+1000 for all the Vets and especially those that gave their full measure for our country...and +1000 for President and Mrs Reagan for going and visiting these cemetarys.

Father went ashore at Utah Beach.

Sadly, the memories of being in action from then until VE-Day haunted him until he went to the next realm.

Eternal gratitude to all those of the US, British, Canadian, Free Polish and Free French units...and the French Resistance, who gave some or all to help save the world, in those days.

And lest we forget, the Soviet Army launched a huge offensive on the Eastern front, at the same time.

While we are remembering and honouring heroes...6 American soldiers died in Iraq and Afghanistan in the past 2 days.

In remberabce of our fallen men and women: I would report that locily someone removed the brass placks from several graves. it is said that there intent was to sell them for scrap. what sickness could cause that kind of behaviour?

it's probably called meth Danny.......but we'll go with "addiction" to avoid stereotyping.

I too salute the troops, fallen and non, my 1st "Paw-in-law" was a Pearl Harbor hero.
kept a chest with the lid literally FILLED with medals and ribbons, but never talked about it except when he'd been drinking.....bad stuff he'd been thru.......went down on ships in two seperate battles, over 600 steel-wool stitches holding his insides together (hospital ship ran out of sutures and had wool pads from the kitchen(galley)stripped to save the wounded).
