I just finished my last day of high school and I can tell you,
it is arguably the worst place on the planet. Never before have I heard such terrible language and just plain stupidity. I would guess 80% of the school doesn't even know that there is a presidential election next year. I may be bad at math, but at least I can speak properly. The worst part(s), these people are not only graduating with me, but they are all so reproducing.

Danny,I think I understand where you're coming from...I only play by ear most of the time but have learned bits and pieces of sight reading and the Nashville number system charts,and I've been playing so long it's second nature,like speaking a second language.
I wish that I had learned more about reading music and theory,and even wished I had done better in school instead of goofing off so much,but hindsight is 20/20.
Today I see lots of kids "dumbing down",speaking like they came out of some third world county with no education,acting like they have never been taught any manners,and I think that if a young person can become educated and strive to become the best at whatever it is they want to be,I believe they will have a much brighter future than most of the kids I see now days....even if that's being a musician....because when we were younger and wanted to be a musician,we were told "to get a real job."

Your right, we dont, at least thats what the American government is presenting spending more money on prisons, tobacco, the DEA, and alcohol(all seperatley, not combined) in a year than on education

the people of this generation are getting dumber cause they live on video games, on FB, they use technology to solve there problems. without it there vulnerable. i myself do everything the old way, read books with year 12+ vocabulary, solve problems in my head, and everyone at school reckons i'm dumb cause i'm not doing it there way

sometime last year (i think) the dallas school board decided that doing NOTHING earned a student at least 50% of a grade. tests were allowed to be re-taken until a passing grade was achieved. so basically what they are "teaching" students is that they are going to pass whether they work or not.
i quit high school my senior year because i failed english. i had a b average. i refused to write ONE term paper and i flunked. i was given a subject that i simply refused to write a paper on.
my how times have changed.

There are plenty of new immigrants to the USA who in the future will be happy to have uneducated Americans clean their houses, mow their lawns, pick up their trash, serve them at table.

If one chooses to do those worthy and necessary occupations, fine, but if someone's only option is to do them because they chose not to be educated, well, that's a flippin' pity.
