Like this? http://compare.ebay.com/like/3503693591 ... r&_lwgsi=y I'm not sure if it'd just drop right onto the blacktop, but maybe someone a little more experienced will know that answer.

The Bridge will fit ok but you will need to route out the pickup hole. Not to tough if you have the right tools but if you've never worked a router It could be disastrous.

It really depends on what type of humbucker you put on it but twangier it won't be.

He's already got a humbucker. The guitar in question is a Blacktop Tele. Which comes with 2 humbuckers and is fitted with a flat mount hardtail bridge like a Strat hardtail. I do agree that any inexperienced routing on a guitar body could end very badly; I know my way around power tools and I still don't think I'd try something like that.

I think it'll be twangier. I think the Tele bridge is one of the most important parts of having that unmistakable Tele sound.

excatly what i think. the blacktop still has some classic tele tones in it for sure. an i'm in love with the tone for sure, but i think it'll be better if i put a classic tele bridge in suitable for a humbucker.

Riley, sorry mate you're not going to get a bucker equipped tele to sound like a singlecoil equipped tele.
That just aint happening.
Now about the ashtray bridge cover. They look great, they really do. However it will end your ability to palm mute strings whilst it's fitted.
It's not the answer mate.

What you may need to do is wire one humbucker out of phase with the other. Then when you go to the bridge/neck selector position you'll get a thinner twangier sound.
It won't be just like a normal Tele, but it will be a little nearer what you're after.

Or option two. You could wire a push pull pot to turn off one of the humbuckers coils. Again getting you nearer Tele sounds, but not the same.

It's worth mucking about with just to hear the different sounds in them pickups.

My Bad, I confused the Blackout Tele for the Blacktop Tele. But if your looking to add the ashtray cover, That bridge won't do it, as it is missing the raised sides that hold the cover in place. And I have not seen one with them. So palm muting will not be affected. As far as splitting the coils You can get a Strat like sound but it is not like a Tele.

good info. i dont want that full single coil tele tone, or else i wouldn't've got a blacktop. just after something that'll make it a bit more twangier
