Is it worth the $20.....yes. Maybe not for me though as I might grow a bit too envious. How old do you think he is in some of those early videos?

He's good for sure, no doubting that but there is some amazing young talent out there now and of either sex too.

"Can we all agree this kid is a prodigy?"
please forgive me, but, no. reminds me of the beauty pageants for 5 year olds. That no can change to a yes if there is some artistic development though.

Clarify please. I don't understand the artistic development statement. Just because you don't have any originals doesn't mean you aren't an artist, and I'm positive I saw some originals too.

heck he might have been studying this type of music all his young life.
ok hes good indeed but does that make him a "prodigy" um..... nope.

there are too many to count, young people, I'll say under 16 y/o, who can play very well. Some of them develop their performing skills so that it shows individuality during their performances. "Player #17 is almost as perfect as player #8 and they both sound just like their instructor Jane, rather than, I really haven't heard anything like that before, that must be player # 1, he isn't from this district." fenderflamestrat, thank you for posting the video, the person in it is very good. If he is a prodigy then the late great Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, baptismal name, Johannes Chrysostomus Wolfgangus Theophilus Mozart was much more than that at the age of 3. One of my favorite artists of all time I consider young Mozart the best example of prodigy. Wiki has him composing music at age 5. For the artistic development statement then, at age 3 one would be amazed at his physical ability to play and at age 5 when you heard his music you knew it was him and no-one else. Sorry, I should just have said thanks and left it at that.

Being a kid myself,I can say this...He's great, but he most likely takes lessons.I he was a "prodigy" he would teach himself to play and sing while doing it.

This is so wrong I don't even know how to respond to it........

But regardless, he's good, but his playing is too robotic, it has no soul, no emotion. He does all these weird little fills, all this improv, yet he still can't make the music his own.

Very cool. :) Lessons or not, "prodigy" or not, you've gotta give him some credit. He's obviously spent many hours practicing and worked hard to get to where he is. And I'm sure he's only going to get better. I can't think of a reason to knock him for it.

Well. Putting aside questions of what "prodigy" means, he is very good indeed. If most of us were half that good we'd feel pretty pleased with ourselves!

I believe what SBLS was getting at in his earlier post was musical expression. Young people are nearly always lacking in that department - for simple, obvious reasons. Sometimes it comes later and sometimes it doesn't: that's the musical journey that we watch people make.

This gentleman's no different. His amazing technical facility won't necessarily lead to great musicianship later; we have to wait and see.

But so far, he's certainly doing nothing wrong, far as I can see. Cripes, I wish I could pull off that run at the end that he makes look so easy!

One to keep an eye on. Thanks for posting, fenderflamestrat.

Cheers - C
