Back when you guys were starting out with your bands. What if any uniforms did you wear. I insisted that we always wore a Hawaiian Shirt and 501's with soap and water saddles. We played a lot of house parties and the kids parents seemed to think we were pretty respectable. 8)

I refuse to play with a band that won't dress for stage these days.

I've done both before and a dressed, coordinated band looks better than some rabble that turns up in their jeans and t-shirt.
Even playing punk there was a dress code. Leather jacket, black t-shirt, black jeans, big black boots. Doc's or para boots. Luckily we were allowed to lose the leather jacket after the fourth song. Something I was begging to do the first time I played a country near the equator.

My first band was with a Elvis impersonator, some twenty four years ago. Even then the backing band had a uniform. Black trousers, white shirt, tie, black waistcoat. Whilst the guy with the bunch'o'grapes got to wear them sparkly jumpsuits.
I prefer uniformed. I feel better, the band look like they mean business and consequently I play like I mean business.
Obviously it's not applicable to every get together. There have been plenty of private do's where it would have just been too formal.

I used to play for a brief period with a M.O.R. band and they always wore white dress shirts and black dress pants to gigs.My most recent band would only get dressed up as such for New Year's Eve but for all other gigs just wore casual pants and shirts.
One band I was with-Ace Demolition and You F.O.-used to dress scruffy in keeping with the band's name.BTW You F.O. was the name of the light show that travelled with us and we shared billing. You F.O. stands for just what you think it does-the guys were seriously warped but had a great light show. We'd start off every night with Tush and had cop lights on top of the PA columns and an old army ambulance crank siren and when the siren started the boys would hit the cop lights and we'd start the opening riff-it all had a great impact on people who sw it for the first time. All Along the Watchtower was started at the beginning of the last set in the same manner but without the siren.

I've never been in a band that had uniforms, but I believe in dressing neat and clean.
My brother-in-law has been in country bands on the road in the 70's/80's that had the jumpsuit type uniforms with the big collars and scarfs. :D

We don't have a set dress code really, but when we play a country gig, everybody wears western style shirts...I'm generally wearing boots anyway, so no big difference there.

My usual uniform for stage is cowboy gypsy with a touch of 50s grease monkey thrown in.

I played a jazz gig (singing only, I'm pretty terrible on jazz guitar; this was somebody else's band) and I showed up with a suit and skinny tie, thinking everyone would be dressed accordingly...all the other guys were in jeans and t-shirts...I looked like 1962 Sinatra and they looked like roadies. I ended up singing all nite but got to play one blues song in Dm, made it kinda a slow Jimmie Vaughan-meets-Otis Rush on top of some Joe Pass rhythm playing (from other guitarist). We also did one jump blues (Wynonie Harris style) tune where I played harp...I wish I had some pics, it was a trip.

Laugh at Todd playing the Fool SG.

That's his point.

If you are told what to do..........and you do it...........why are you playing music?

Get a day job.

(no offense to all of the toe-the line subservient, corporate drones reading this. You are winners too!!!)
