So. What gives?

I posted above that I am the owner of not one but two Toyota Priuses, and that I shamefully sold a gorgeous racing green Jaguar to buy one of them. I then sat back and waited for all you petrol heads to fall upon me and tear me to shreds, like a pack of slavering wolverines on a bleating lamb at a live meat eating festival.

What the hell happened to this Forum? Are everyone's manners just too damn polite?

Just kidding, guys. But where's mclmk8d got to? He'll sort my priorities out for me on this thang. :D

Cheers - C

i don't have one but hope to have a hybrid or electric in the near future. Truthfully the only real gas saver is the all mighty 2 wheel bicycle that most other countries (i.e. - NOT America) have embraced. The petroleum will not last forever and although the hybrid and electric cars of today might not be the best they are a necessity so the technology that drives them can progress. I know change will not come about because of societies concern for the environment but at some point cars have to become more efficient. imo

Well Ceri ... when you're right .. You're RIGHT!
There is a need for better technology - but it looks like the Prius is the best thing going right now. Maybe somebody will develop some kind of "solar" vehicle that works. I hope sooner than later.

To keep the street clear I should say CdBurgh comes to mind (soooo easily): Don't Pay The Ferryman, for instance? I wouldn't suggest Lady in Red, since I am not a fan of sour milk....

Got ride of my crap Dodge Hemi Truck got all of 12 MPG. and got me a Chevy V8 Fullsize 8Ft. Bed and it gets 15 to 16 MPG. :D and I love it but we also have a Civic 36MPG and a Acccord 28MPG. and Miata 27MPG.
Not ready for a Hybrid because there are not enough choices and the cost just don't warrant one yet. There are many cars that get close to the same milage as the hybrids anyway with the expense.
Would not even think about all electric vehicle.

I believe the traction batteries used in the Prius cost about $3,000 to replace but they are warranted for 8 to 10 years or 100,000 miles. Also the batteries can be recycled. It's also the reason Hybrids are hard to sell used once they are 6 plus years old with the stigma of maybe having to replaced a costly battery in a few years.

No hate here...If I was planning on buying a new car, I'd like a hybrid. And as much as I hate the look of the Prius, I was quite impressed with the one I drove.
