I'm with ya, I would first get a 52 RI and then would see if what was left could get me a custom shop masterbuilt all to my specs and custom finish. I happen to have a spec sheet for my dream guitar but I'm 16 and 9,648 $ from the amount needed to even seriously consider a masterbuilt (10,000 probably a couple K more) but I'm patient, slow and steady wins the race and I will one day hold my dream.

As much of a Hendrix Freak as I am I couldn't bring myself to spend 10 large on that. For starters it isn't even an exact copy of the Monterey Strat and I'm sure that if I bought a new Fiesta Red(which was the colour of the original)Strat I could find a very skilled artist to paint an exact replica for much less.Anyway I already have my own Monterey Strat,it's a black lefty with a rosewood fretboard strung for right-a mirror image of the Strat that Jimi played for most of the concert and strangely enough wasn't seen being played by him again. The "sacrificed"Strat was passed to Jimi by Eric Barrett just before he started Wild Thing so the main Monterey Srat was a black rosewood.

According to the 12th edition of the "Blue Book" the original MSRP was $6,999. 210 units were made by the Custom Shop in 97 and 98. This appears to be one of those. The "Blue Book" lists this guitar in excellent condition as having a $8,000 dollar value. VG goes up to $10,500. I agree with the other posters on this thread. I would spend my money on something else...
