I know the general opinion here is that rap is "less than good", but I was wondering if anyone else here listens to any rap? IMO most mainstream rap these days IS completely talentless trash, however a lot of old rap and underground rap is REALLY good.

Some of my favorites:

Big Punisher
Terror Squad
NWA
old Snoop Dogg
Eminem
Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All
Tupac
Wu-Tang Clan

IMO you can't spell crap without rap, try it, it does not work but like I said it's IMO. I have yet to hear a rap song with meaning and that sounds good to the ear but would be glad to be proved wrong (even though I'm already biased).

EDIT: post #200 I'm proud, now a roadie :P

Try Immortal Technique, really good political rap. Also, possibly the most insane hip hop song ever written:

i like some of it. i also like some of the fusion that is coming out of it... it definitely adds it's place in history and has influenced other genre.

I don't know, there's also something that I can't really put my finger on that just doesn't go well with me. My parents tell me I was born old, I like old music, I don't like the fashions that people my age do, there's just something in me that makes me like stuff that is long gone and dislike the current things. I understand that people like different things then me and allot of them have tried to influence me but to no avail, I guess when we get down to it I'm just weird :?

Maybe some Rage or Beasties but that is it. Even then, I limit it or it gets on my nerves. I think of gangster rap as a novelty kind of thing. Like Richard Cheese or something. Not really my thing.

Yea definitely one of the best releases this year. I'd have to say Lee Majors Come Again is my favorite track right now, but I like the mix that was in skate 3 better than the album version

You are not weird at all you just have a refined sense for music apreciation. so much of the new stuff each in its own catigory is just like the last one. I'ts onley once in a while that something realy good comes along. Then it doesent mater much what kind it is everyone likes it. When everyone likes it ITS REALY GOOD. :)

I like pretty much any west coast rap from the late 80s/early 90s. As far as newer stuff goes, I like T.I., The Game, and after them two I just hear specific songs I like that I'll listen to.

not a valid music form, IMHO YMMV.
