Anyone on here collect baseball cards? I have a huge lot of cards I've been thinking about selling, but it doesn't seem like I'm finding too many people truly interested. Did I sit on these cards for too long? I've been collecting since I was 5 and have a lot of good cards, including a PSA 10 graded '89 Upper Deck Ken Griffey Jr. rookie card. I see that specific card with a grade of 10 selling for upwards of $750 dollars, and mine that is listed at $250 hasn't gone anywhere or even generated much interest. I guess I should have started selling in the late 90's cause it looks like I've waited too long and now I'll be lucky to recoup the money I put into this collection. Live and Learn I guess.

EDIT: I'm not trying to sell these cards here, just hoping someone with some experience on the matter can shed some light on different avenues I can take to try and sell them.

Hey Tim, the ONLY baseball card I have is a '89 Upperdeck Griffey RC!

I don't know anything about sports cards, but my uncle is into hockey cards. He has every set printed since the early 70's.

Right on Chet! I'll give him a call. I may have a few cards he'll be interested in.

If he's not interested chances are he knows someone who would be.

sell them individually not as a lot unless you just want to get rid of them quickly. On ebay is your best way to get the most money out of them, a card shop wont give you top dollar for them

I agree. The problem is that you're not able to find an actual collector (one who values the cards at the said price).

LameBay may be the way to go about it once you have a good idea of what it is you have.

yep youve waited to long to sell them as a collection. individual isnt much better either.
the bottom fell out in the very mid 90's. with beckett the card shops were screwing the collector pretty good. here on the eastcoast card collecting has taken a dive to the point that its been yrs since ive seen a card shop. i have a few that for some reason ive held onto. i guess i remain hopeful i dont know.
had a nice hotwheels collection too. same thing with them. i have maybe a couple thousand left in the blister packs.
have probably 60 starwars figures still in the blister packs too.
have several more collections that the same thing has happened to too.
ive kept some of the very best of everything and gotten rid of the rest.
when the economy takes a down turn. collections get hit hard. when it takes a turn up, they are the very last to move in most cases. it is what it is bro. sell them or let your child sell them when he/she gets ready for college/retirement.

Being a good Canadian I collected Hockey Cards.

But same idea I suppose.

I should have sold mine already as well, but I bought them for fun, not to make money.

This is one of my favorites (Okay this isn't my actual card, but I have this one, I used to go to collector's shows and buy cheaper older cards as well)

I'm 13 and started collecting baseball cards in 07. I have upwards of 2,000 and plenty of nice cards. My favorite one is probably a 2009 Upper Deck Albert Pujols Game Worn Jersey Stadium Scenes card. Numbered 4/16. Though about selling the entire collection so I can have a nice stepping stone for CS Strat but I don't know if it's worth losing the sentimental value......maybe the doubles or triples

the big thing is its gonna take ALOT of cards to make a nice deposit in a CS strat.
you'll get less than $150 for the whole collection if you only have 2000 cards.
i'll bet at most $100. there havent been very many cards over the last 4 yrs worth anything. then finding someone thats will to give you anything for them is gonna be tough. ball cards arent the "investment" they use to be 30 yrs ago.
do not follow the beckett either. that price guide is a joke at best.

+1...Beckett is pretty pointless. Supply and Demand is ALL that matters when trading cards. A card can be valued at $100 in the book, but if every collector on the block has one you'll be lucky to get 5 bucks for it. And on the other token, a lot of cards like my Ken Griffey Jr. rookie show a pretty low book value, but with nobody wanting to let go of this card the actual market value is sky high right now. The thing I always try to remember when it comes to selling collectibles is patience is truly a virtue. You pretty much put the hook out there and kick back until the right collector comes around looking for that specific item.
