i got a guitar for my wife......

you have no idea how hard it was to find somebody willing to make that trade

old joke- but appropriate i believe

I nearly blew coffee out of my nose on this one!

Just got a mic and started singing again...wife told me I can't sing!
Funny she didn't say that when I was in a band singing before we got married!

Music room's upstairs, she is downstairs with the TV. To say she does not care one eighty-third of a whit about guitar playing or music, would be giving it too much credence.

Her POV, guitar keeps her wretched victim at home where he is not golfing, gambling, running around, spending on cars or boats...and she is (therefore?) VERY, VERY TOLERANT of his spending on gear.

Good 'nuff compromise, here. Lonely sometimes, but good 'nuff.

I learned a few songs my wife likes and every now and then I play them - once she's smiling I can go back to playing the stuff I like.

Matt,
Maybe she was trying to say that you are good at those licks and is surprised that you aren't learning anything that challenges you? Don't take it in a bad way take it as a way of her taking a real interest in what you are doing and trying to help you get better.
ABS :D

I found me a good one, and honestly she probably knows it'd be a waste of time to say something; I'm gonna play either way. I make sure and take her out to nice dinners and little 'dates' at random times, it helps my case a lot.

Lately my wife has been telling me that I have gotten better. I feel like I needs to learn more licks, scales, ect...
