Well, he disappeared again. I had taken the time to reach out to him by PM but by the time I was finished writing it, he removed his username/profile again.

So as a public service announcement, I thought I would make some suggestions as to how to establish oneself on the Fender Forum (which was what I was writing to him). These aren't hard and fast rules, but if/when the Tri-named Cobain/Corgan Humping Pollster comes back, maybe he'll "get it."

First of all, welcome to the Forum. We are an open group that allows all kinds through the door, from the wide-eyed innocents to the veteran players who have "been there."

If you want to get along here, try these kinds of posts or threads:

Set up some posts showing the pics of your guitars, amps and effects.

Post some pics from concerts you’ve been to.

Write a post (not a poorly worded, divisive and misleading “poll”) asking other people’s opinions about certain guitars or equipment you’re G.A.S-sing about (for example, “Has anyone played one of the new Pawn Shop XYZ guitars? I like this one”).

Write a post talking about a cool guitar you saw in the window of a guitar shop or on-line.

Write about a concert you attended.

Write about a gig you played or a band you joined or a jam session you attended.

Let us know your interests outside of music.

Talk about the kind of music your parents listened to and how that shaped your world view.

We all have our favorite bands and artists that rock our world, but Fanboys aren’t really tolerated very much on this forum, so avoid that...you won't be kicked off, but you won't be embraced, either.

I’ll let you in on a couple of private jokes: If you have some crazy socks, post a pic of them online when you want to hijack a thread. That got started last winter during a heated discussion, when AndyBigHair posted a picture of some knitted socks he wears around the house. The same goes for any kind of unique or goofy footwear (such as my ostrich-skin boots). Nevin likes curvy redheads (who doesn't?). SuperKid isn’t usually allowed online after 7 o’clock (wherever he is), so we rag on him about it.

Be cool, or at least try to be.

Welcome.

Ok, this might sound a little arrogant, but I think we hurt the guy's feelings and I don't want anybody to think we don't at least try to get along with one another and with newbies. What do you think? What suggestions would you add?

You know it might help if a new guy were given a little help in the beginnion as to where he stands in the hierarchy of this forum. I have noticed that from the getgo the guy is subjected to advice and criticism from all directions, He has no way of knowing if it's coming from a person of authority or an As#$%^. I've been here 5 months and still haven't a clue. Again just my opinion. :)

Who doesn't. One thing that always intriques me is how a group of people can all look at something and form completely different opinions on what they're looking at. Luckily we're not all robots. We only get a small slice of each members life through their posts, we shouldn't be too quick to make assumptions about the people behind the posts. Sometimes the dissenting opinions get too personal.
I think Screamin Armadillo's write up is a pretty good road map to what most of us come here for. I normally don't even open threads that have a poll, but I get sucked into a few now and then. No biggie.

There is no Higher Archy other than the Moderators that I know of. If you put yourself out there you have to expect different opinions.

do you realize the fireworks that will go off when he turns 12
and is allowed to stay on until 8 o'clock? hes gonna have that
"ive arrived" feeling in his heart.
DST will get his arse in the end but still.............

ok on the serious SA, what makes you think we hurt the OP's feelings?
what was said/done? heres the thing though, no matter, if the guy doesnt
stay around long enough we cant do anything to resolve the issues anyway.

As I have learned on my fishing and hunting forums which by the way can be brutal. You gotta have a little thick skin on these forums.Other forums I visit will pick you up and spit you out in heart beat, but everyone gets along pretty good. Its all in good fun.I'm sure some of you could do without me too....but oh well life goes on.I figure all is well or I would of politely been asked to leave by now.I'm still here though
Peace....I'm a music hippy at heart  so how could you hate an old hippy

What I like about recent events is that Floyd was complaining about all of the poll threads, and now that yerman has left it says that he made them.
