Tim has a Jet City and that's a great sounding well built Soldano designed amp.

I do love my Jet City, but I feel like a lot of these new companies that are springing up will be forgotten in the next 10 years. And although Jet City is making great products, I wonder is they won't be one of those companies where people are like... "jet .. who?"
I'll still have mine so everyone can hear what they've missed out on.

very nice... i never looked at the Jet City amps before. I am edging closer to an Orange Amp or Jet City. They both have some very nice offerings. i think in the long run my money will be best served buying a mid/low end tube amp (around $1k).

What makes old tube amps seem to last forever is that they use such simple, old, '30's technology with replacable tubes. A tube goes, you replace it. The amp sounds like crap, you replace all the tubes and capacitors. I don't see hand wiring as a feature, I see it as how today only prototypes are built.

With transistor or FET amps, when an active device goes, unless you're a EE, you have no idea what to do and either ditch the amp or bring it to someone to fix. However, with printed circuit boards, consistancy and reliability is far better than with a tube amp. On the down side, almost all electronics are only designed to last for 10 years or less. So if the amp goes 11 years from now, chances are that the replacement board will be unavailable and you're stuck with a brick.

that is the video i watched... wow, seems like they really offer a lot and sounded amazing. i am watching the Orange Thunder TH30 review now. I love the styling of the orange but when the rubber meets the road i don't think it even comes close to the Mesa.
i am really a sucker for the 60's styling but in this choice substance has to top style for sure. doesn't matter how cool something looks if it can't perform.

from the amps ive heard/tried, there is nothing out there remotely close to the
MesaBoogie express 5:50.
it has a richness all its own, a very fluid tone to it.
i like a lot of the 60's amps myself but this Boogie just cant be beat over all in my opinion.
sure several of the amps from the 60's have a very signature tone, but covers a lot of ground, several different tones.

The whole problem is quality. Everything that's coming out is disposable. Also, If all you've ever used or heard is digital, that's pretty much all you know. Digital effects sound brittle and sterile compared to some of my vintage stomp boxes. They may be superior to you, but not to many other people. Why do you think everyone wants a tube amp?

im not much for digital either. cant stand line6. so much junk coming out ya know?
stomp boxes are the big junk lines these days. there is so much junk out there in the effect world its crazy. then folks get mad when you call it junk.
the more crap effects that come out, it drives the prices of the good ones up even more.
