I signed up today for lessons at GC. I start next Tuesday. I consider myself an intermediate player. I guess the first thing I'll learn is how right or wrong I am with that designation.
Hopefully I'll learn something. The main reason I started is to keep me interested so I don't get bored and stagnant.

Randy Rhoades took lessons until the day he died.
i use to know a guy up home that Randy would come see when he was close by
and get lessons from. he was the jazz instructor up at the college.
good choice your making in my opinion.

I have thought of taking lessons when I can afford it. I have played for 20 years and have formal music instruction. I taken classical lessons, blues based lessons, completed many college music classes and attended AIM for a semester (many years ago). A good teacher or coach can save many hours of frustration. If you want to really get good fast, surround yourself with people better than you or that can push you to be better than you are now. I would love to be surrounded by awesome guitarist that would help me even a little.

This is what I'm thinking. I have a couple of friends that play and keep saying they're going to come over to jam but never do. Life gets in the way and they aren't into it as much as I am right now. I figure I need to go out and find some people to be around. Luckily in L.A. there's no shortage of musicians.
Way Cool, just think how many years of Ozzy we almost lost that same day along with Randy. Such a shame. I mean about Randy, not Ozzy. :)

hours? try yrs sometimes.
dont forget those that arent as good as we are yet. you can learn a lot from folks a couple levels below you too. their questions, misfingerings, and noodlings can teach you a lot if your paying attention to them.

Takeing lessons is always a good idea. Try and not do like I did and think you know more than your teacher. I was Mr. Bone Head, and the man set me streight right now. once that little confrontation took place I began to learn something.
And now I have started Singing lessons, I have COPD, and the breathing exercises have helped me with that to. :) Way cool hucked me up with a Good Book on Theory, something everyone could know more about. The more you study the beter you get. Have Fun. :)

I've always thought about taking lessons, I'm totally self-taught, so I'm sure I do everything completley wrong, but I'm so used to the way I play now, I dunno if I would even want to have to rewlearn everything.

You wont have to start over, and you will be surprised to descuver just how much you do right. Most importantly to me I am learning that quite often there is an easier way. :)
