i love looking at those very complicated train displays. its amazing to see what some folks are willing to put into them. some are even works of art in my opinion.

Not sure with trains but I would say in the back. With semi trucks you would put the empty trailer on the back. You want the weight up front for a solid pull. It's all about the whiplash effect- the delay in weight tranferance and delayed action of the rear trailer. If all the weight is in the back it tends to pull you around if it starts wiggleing. Probubly the same with the trains overall. Maybe with the trains not all is perfect. They don't travel on roads and they do alot of switching. It may just be the luck of the draw as to where the weight goes alot of times.
