Wow...lots of suggestions, it'd take me years to try all these different coffees. But I'm up for that challenge.

Wow! A lot of coffee drinkers here! :D
For me, it's Folgers Custom Roast, from Sam's Club, if I brew it. Most of the time, it's Taster's Choice instant. The instant ain't bad, for an instant coffee.
I love my coffee! :D I drink at least two pots worth a day. (you know-those little 12 cup drip coffee maker "pots" )
My heart doctor and I had a falling out about my coffee. He wanted me to stop drinking it. I told him 'doc, I have had to give up just about everything else - the coffee? NO! That I'm not giving up!'. He has referred me to another doctor. Oh well.
Oh - and I'm still drinking my coffee. No problems.
Although, it could turn out like the guy that the doctor told him to quit drinking beer, or it would kill him. The guy said no. Then, later in life, when he was 90, he was run over and killed by a beer truck. The doctor said "SEE! I told him it would kill him!"

Just a couple "little" pots a day huh? lol. I thought I drink a lot at a pot a day.

Hi mclmk8d: this is an excellent plan. Much as I love my Taylors (and will be delighted to give you a bag or two if you happen to be passing through my town and would like to meet for a beer - hint-hint), you just can't beat Italian smoothness for the espresso machine. Even good ol' Lavazza is great, far as my tastebuds are concerned, and if you pick up a suitcase full of "the real thing" in Italy then so much the better. Way to go!

Where in Italy are you visiting, by the way?

Buon viaggio!

Cheers - C

I was in Italy on TDY for 2 weeks when I was in the Army. That place is to espresso drinkers what Mecca is to muslims.

Oh my: a thread about one of my favorite reasons to be alive: coffee.

Well, I am lucky to live in a country where we produce and consume some of the best stuff in the planet (I'm not being cocky, it's true. Our beer sucks, though...)... so I love coffee.

I'll post pics of some of the brands I like best as soon as possible...

So Brazilian beer sucks.
Good to know.
Store that little nugget away for a rainy day.

Thanks for reviving this old thread so we can remember some of the old names.

And I’m getting a chuckle out of ....

I LIKE PIE!!

Forgot all about that.
LOL

Oh, forums... you start a thread that already exists, people go “do a search” “old” and so on.

You up an existing thread, people accuse you of gravedigging, necroposting...

You can’t be free...

Anyway about coffee, I really like Antonello Monardo’s roast.

I was VERY lucky enough to "acquire" a Jura coffee maker. Take it from me ... it is not about the coffee. It is the coffee maker that counts. Jura coffee makers are basically "automated espresso machines". It makes regular coffee too (16 oz cups!!!). It makes the coffee under pressure -- AMAZING coffee. I could never go back to drip brew ... no comparison.

Well, that’s where I beg to differ...

Indeed, I can understand your joy about your Jura machine, but I think you’ll have a very pleasant surprise if you try and compare some different coffee variations on it, taking the time to appreciate the subtleties in them.

As for not going back to drip brew: to me espresso and filter drip brew are entirely different animals, they’re like cigarettes and cigars. Sometimes NOTHING beats a good drip brew, especially in the morning.

Cheers!
