Hi everyone, i have a 97' American standard Stratocaster, in inca silver, and a 09' American standard Telecaster, in the natural finish, that are mint, and i'm wondering if it's a good idea to buy something like a cheap used Strat or Tele, to use as a practice axe, in order to keep my babies in excellent condition, and to avoid loads of fret wear. Do a lot of people here use a practice guitar, or is it wiser to practice with what you have to be more used to it's feel, etc? Any opinions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Sharp looking guitars, how could you not want to play them?

I guess my theory has always been that they are to be played, so play 'em, be careful to avoid unnecessary damage but that's what they were made for, just my opinion.

Play them babies!! It's not like they are CS or vintage and I'd still play them! JMHO!
There are a lot of people paying extra money just to get a worn guitar! Go figure, each to his own though. No disrespect meant to those fine folks now!

All right! These are some excellent opinions folks, and i really appreciate them, i can see already, that i'm just being overly "retentive" as they say, just because the guitars are relatively new to me. Thanks very much everyone, please keep the opinions coming! It's a huge help to me. :D

P.S. What does "CS" stand for? Thanks!

I know where you're coming from on this btw, when I first got my Band of Gypsies tie dye strat I thought the same thing, "it's rare, and shiny, and undamaged, don't wreck it."

But it's just to nice not to play, so have fun.

CS stands for "coming sounds," like they're coming when you plug it into an amp :D Just a guess.

Sorry! CS stands for Custom Shop, and is commonly used on this site.

Sure thing, it's got a really slim and smooth neck with a couple strange quirks, like there's no fret markers on the front of the neck, and it's a slab body like a tele, none of the usual contours. Kind of dark and hard to see but it's got one single coil, one open HB pickup, and a 3 position selector. Mine doesn't have a tremolo arm.

Not the most recent photo but one I had handy anyway, only guitar missing is my "cottage guitar", Epiphone acoustic that stays at the place up north.

IMHO, you need to live up to your name and Spank those Planks!

They're good lookin' guitars, but in order to bond with them, you gotta play 'em...

Thanks WI KISSfan, that's one cool axe! And the rest are one fine collection also! That acoustic looks to be a rarity too.

Yeah, all of my Fender/Squiers are discontinued, out of production, the acoustic is a early 90's Fender Montara, great and comfortable acoustic. The blue Fender Musicmaster is a 1978, and the Squier Musicmasters are both 97's from the one year they were reissued. The Tie Dye strat is a Korean made 2003 model.

I need to update this photo since the white bass has bee sold, and before I sold it I took the gray pickguard off and put it on the black one. Looks really nice.
