I agree 10000000000%.One time I convinced a guy NOT to let his son try any electrics and go straight to acoustics for learning. His son was only about 4 years old.Firs of all I didn't wat the kid to destroy any good guitars.
The acoustic room at my local Guitar Center has all the good guitars where nobody can reach them.AND NOOO I DONT DESTROY ANY GOOD SETUPS,I ALWAYS LEAVE WITH THE GUITAR IN TUNE FOR THE NEXT PERSON,AND I HAVE NEVER PLAYED IN DROP-D EVER IN MY LIFE.I see employees that take less care of the guitars. Most kids don't know a good guitar from a baseball bat. It's kinda funny how The kids always go for the COOL looking guitar!!!My guitar center has the guitars in a row from Most To least expensive and I sit and try not to laugh as countless numbers of kids run to the end and grab a squire or a Dean then look at the price tag and say that it's too much money because it's $100! [/quote]

Super Kid that's great. I wish others would follow your example. i have the utmost respect for you!

Hey, don't make fun of my Signature Tele! The one on the left, I mean.

Image

I paid $130 for it! And I like it! Pro set up with 10s. I love coil-splitting. :D

Yes, it's a coil-splitter, too, but contoured mahogany with a set neck. But I like 'em all.

You're not making fun of my Avril Lavigne, are you? 8)

lol cr i ain't got nothing on her i loved her first albums but she's grown a little weaker but i'm still a lover of her old stuff...

btw i always wondered about this... does coil splitting work kind of as pickup selection or does it count as one of those weird effect things you install on a guitar? (i'm old fashioned i prefer pedals)

I'm sure there are plenty of guys on this Forum who can better explain coil-splitting than I, but the Avril Tele is a little different. Think of the humbucker on this guitar as two single coils side-by-side. Using the 3-way switch, you can choose the neck side single coil, center position is full humbucker, bridge position is the bridge single coil. You actually get very interesting and different tones using the 3-way switch, though the full humbucker is, of course, fuller and louder.

It's an interesting guitar and I really enjoy using it through a lot of different amps, though I haven't yet played out with it. My partner bought it used at GC, took it home and did a pro setup (he's way, way better than the GC tech), installed new 10s and then changed his mind and took it back. I went and bought it, though they tried to charge me an extra $10 for Rick's setup!
