I think Avril's ok. Plus, she's cute. She looks like Nicole Kidman's angry little sister.

I would take the HK Strat's pick guard off and put it on the JB Gibson to make it more manly.

Go play 10 new Gibsons at a store. You'll notice that they are extremely inconsistent, ranging from bad (be it the finish, electronics, how it plays, etc), to god-tier instruments that you don't want to put down.

That's pretty much true with every guitar. Depends on who sets them up etc. Go play 10 new Fenders and you'll get the same result. I've found the setups on the Road Worn Strats just horrible. Lots of major issues. Intonation, poorly cut nuts trem issues. I've played Melody Makers that were great all way around.
I never judge a guitar by what's hanging on the wall. You never know who was messing with it. When I was a kid, we didn't have the mega, mega music stores, we had Mom and Pop shops. You would look around, turn your belt buckle around so you didn't put belt rash on the guitar, and the owner or son or daughter would carefully hand you the guitar and sat with you while you played it.
Now kids just pull them off the wall, tune them to a dropped D, wank away, steal the knobs off them and don't even re-tune them when they put them back. It's a shame really. I really don't consider minor setup issues on a new guitar a serious problem.

Re the Gibson/Epi discussion:I own 6 Epis and each one is a superb guitar as a matter of fact the best Les Paul I've ever played was an Epi '59 reissue. The quality control and materials and hardware of Epis has improved immensely over the past few years. My daughters boyfriend even prefers my Epi G-400 Custom to his Gibson SG,he says that the set up and feel is much better and the pups are much hotter too.A jamming buddy of mine bought a brand new L.P. i '09 and has been plagued with problems-especially with tuning-ever since he got it.He paid over 3 grand for it and my $505 Epi Trad. Pro L.P. sings like a PAF and is perfect for 1/6 the price.

A lot of the limited run Epi Pauls are using Gibson pups and electronics as well as Switchcraft jacks.

When I photographed this guy, I asked him about the Epi LP's. He told me to keep an eye on the Epi's, you'll be surprised at what's coming. He said, "I wouldn't put my name on junk". LOL

Man I miss the guy.

The whole Epi=junk is laughable. I'd rather keep the coin and put it towards a better amp. It surprises me to see so many musicians spending thousands on a guitar and just hundreds on an amp. A great guitar will still sound cheap through a poorly designed/constructed amp.

I agree 10000000000%.One time I convinced a guy NOT to let his son try any electrics and go straight to acoustics for learning. His son was only about 4 years old.Firs of all I didn't wat the kid to destroy any good guitars.
The acoustic room at my local Guitar Center has all the good guitars where nobody can reach them.AND NOOO I DONT DESTROY ANY GOOD SETUPS,I ALWAYS LEAVE WITH THE GUITAR IN TUNE FOR THE NEXT PERSON,AND I HAVE NEVER PLAYED IN DROP-D EVER IN MY LIFE.I see employees that take less care of the guitars. Most kids don't know a good guitar from a baseball bat. It's kinda funny how The kids always go for the COOL looking guitar!!!My guitar center has the guitars in a row from Most To least expensive and I sit and try not to laugh as countless numbers of kids run to the end and grab a squire or a Dean then look at the price tag and say that it's too much money because it's $100!
