price ≠ quality

I've played guitars which by price alone you would assume to be s***, but are in fact BEAUTIFUL instruments, and I've played expensive ones that have turned out to be absolute turds of guitars.

+1 my thoughts exactly...to answer the original question. For me personally, the Tele is my favorite.

That list may not be 'comprehensive' but I think that covers the main popular guitars. There are a lot of different and more rare guitars that people may think are the best, but I see where you were going with this list.

+1...I think a lot of companies have stepped it up lately. Even "low end" guitars are nice these days.

they are all very different in their own right.

exactly, I have one of each Tele/Strat at my disposal and love each one for its own. There like a Jack Russel and a Silky, they are not the same kind of Dog. :)

I voted for the Stratocaster, but would take 1 of each.

Check out the Music Man Gamechanger. They claim it eliminates the need to have multiple guitars at gigs. I say...it's a bit much for me, but pretty cool idea. Also got to play one finally; and as is expected from music man, they're very comfortable to play. And have an awesome neck.
