I agree 100%. There's a local sports talk radio station I listen to (1310 The Ticket) and they talk about girls being "hot" and then there's girls that are "sports hot."

We all know what an attractive woman looks like, there's no need to post any pics or even name names; but a woman who is "sports hot" is one who, because of some uncommon ability (athlete, singer, musician, artist, writer), they are bumped up a notch above what their actual looks are.
For example, Danica Patrick is a nice looking woman, but whe you find out she drives race cars, that bumps her up a point or two on the "scale".
Sue Foley is a pretty little Canadian red head (ATTN: NEVIN) who moved to Texas to become a blues guitarist; She's pretty, but when I saw her strap on her paisley Telecaster and keep up with all the guys, she was much higher on the hotness meter.
Likewise, the woman in the video is attractive, but when she started shredding away with little or no effort, she zoomed up a couple of notches immediately.

And before anybody starts thinking this is sexist, women do the same thing. Think about this: Based on looks alone, Mick Jagger and Steven Tyler would both still be virgins...but because they are lead singers in bands, they are "ugly sexy" (words of my wife about both of them). Mike Modano (hockey player) and Tony Romo (American football player) are both be slightly-above-average guys in the looks department, but the fact that they're athletes (and rich), they are both considered "hot" by women.

There were girls that went out on a date with me based on the fact they had seen me play guitar or blues harp or sing with a band (I'm not ugly but I'm not really that handsome either). It made me wonder, "If I were to get serious with and/or marry this chick, and I stopped playing for whatever reason, would she still be attracted to me?" That was one of the things that attractred me to my wife; she liked my guitar playing, but she didn't really care one way or the other.

...a good percentage of the beginner guitarists are doing it to attract girls...it's only the guys who truly catch the music "bug" that stick with it, regardless of the girls it attracted.

Did anyone else notice that she got a pretty good Stevie Ray Vaughan tone out of a TELECASTER?

...that goes to prove my supposition: THE TONE IS IN THE HANDS. You will get closer to SRV's (or Clapton's or Jeff Beck's or Les Paul's or...) tone by buying similar equipment, but it won't make you sound like that player.

I don't know what her backline is, but she's rockin' some SRV without a Stratocaster. Just sayin'...

This thread about female guitar players has appeared in various forms several times on this forum. There are quite a few talented female guitarists in todays marketplace in all genres of music. And as much as I appreciate their musical ability; good looks go a long way in keeping my attention... They or their producers know it and sex appeal sells regardless of gender. I didn't have a clue who Ana Popovic was 3 years ago until somebody (Miami Mike?) posted a pic of her and her guitar on a similar thread. It wasn't her music that first got my attention. Now I've got 2 of her CDs and hope she stops somewhere near here on her next US tour so I can drool some myself... 8)

I don't know if the OP started this thread for fun and amusement but so far I've had fun and been amused. Not to mention a little French along the way...Which makes this thread Way Cool.

By the way, check out a lot of the young up and coming guitarists on You-Tube..............if you check their 'tags' in the info, many of them have words like 'hot', 'sexy', 'fox' BEFORE the words like 'guitar', 'shred' and the such like!!!

That's the way they are 'advertising' themselves................

"hot", "sexy", "fox" are the only way a lot of people would see those threads. There's people who go on Google and type in those words (and those words only) to search for new, ahem...enlightenment ( ) and would have never have looked at a guitar video othewise.

Maybe I need to start a website and call it "BustyAdventurousFun-lovingRedhead.com"...no, that would only attract Nevin to the website. :P

Way cool jr have had the great idea to start this thread because the "femmes guitaristes" post on the french forum inspired him to do so. I started the post on the french forum for two reasons. First, any talented player is worth listening to, and I think that we could have more women around for a change. Second, I'm sure that there is a lot of threads involving women and guitars here, but on the french forum, some members don't speak english and thus, they don't have access to the archives. I think that the international forums were created in the first place to give access to worldwide members who won't join because of the language barrier. :D So old threads will continue to pop-up from time to time, and make more people happy. :D Rock on.
