As for the FF issue we do have them in France but are Pommes Frites as potatoes are Pommes de terre. Roughly translated as Apples of the earth.

Doesn't fit does it..

In England they have Fish and Chips, Chips being similar to Fries/frites but thicker and cut in 8ths. The fish, wrapped in newspaper... Ecologically minded, you can peruse Baron's while munching, though I don't recommend checking the markets on a mouthful...

I can speak just enough French to get me in trouble but not quite enough to get me out of i.Many years ago our soccer team was invited to St. Pierre et Miquelon(a French possession just off the south coast of Newfoundland)and another guy and I were the only ones that spoke any French at all and we spent all our time trying to patch up the trouble that a couple of our guys caused when they obviously couldn't handle huge amounts of Pernod,which they seem to drink there more than water.
