Mick Jagger has formed a super group with Dave Stewart of the Eurythmics, Joss Stone, Damian Marley and AR Rahman.
The group is called Sounds Heavy.
Sounds interesting.

Every single band the media labeled as a 'supergroup' has failed. All of them.

All except Cream and Blind Faith.

However, I am interested in this group...I like Jagger, Stone and Dave quite a bit.

Cream and Blind Faith did too much smack. Maybe that could mess up a band?

By that definition, The Jimi Hendrix Experience was a failure, too.

Not to be argumentative, but Cream and Blind Faith are still played on classic rock stations everyday (40 years later) and are touted amongst the greatest bands of the 60s. The four albums made by those two groups were highly prized and successful.

The Cream reunion shows were some of the highest grossing (individual) concerts and were highly anticipated for years (and people still want them to do some more). Clapton and Windwood's recent collaborations are critically and commercially acclaimed as well.

Yes, the bands didn't stay together for a long period of time, and there were tensions that destroyed the bands from the inside, but outside of longevity, they were successful.

What other bands that were together for 3 years and less than one year (respectively) are still talked about, played on the radio and touted forty years later?

Oh, and I forgot The Travelling Wilburys...a successful supergroup, too.

On Classic Rock Radio, sure they are big.
Other than that radio format and elevators and supermarkets and commercials where else have you heard their songs?

Ask a Teen, 20 or 30 year old who Blind Faith is and see their reaction. :( If you're lucky they may remember their parents listening to them. But that will be a minority.

Don't get me wrong, I love all of those groups + "Super Sessions" by Al Kooper and Mike Bloomfield and Stephen Stills, but they're popular to an older crowd for the most part.

Mick is great with the Stones...his solo efforts, outside of a hit or two...meh...

Yeah, if that's considered as a failure, I'd love to fail!!

Super groups that haven't failed:

Them Crooked Vultures
Tomahwak
Fantomas
Adolescents
and Fugazi was essentially a supergroup for the DC hardcore scene.

That's just the one's I listen to, and I'm CERTAIN I'm forgetting some.

Okay I know who the Vultures are but I don't have a clue on the rest of that list by Floyd. There must be a reason. Who are those others made up of? Just curious. You say "super group" so I should know but...not. Are they really super?

Well, supergroups of some of the biggest names in underground music....

Tomahawk - Duane Denison (The Jesus Lizard), Mike Patton (to many to name), John Stanier (Helmet), and until 2007 Kevin Rutmanis (Cows, Melvins)

Fantomas - Mike Patton, Buzz Osborne (Melvins), Trevor Dunn (Mr. Bungle), Dave Lombardo (Slayer), and when touring, Dale Crover (Melvins)

Adolescents - hardcore supergroup of sorts.... Original line-up consisted of members of Agent Orange and Social Distortion and Tony Cadena, and since they have undergone countless line-up changes, with quite a few well-known punk musicians playing with them over the years.

Fugazi - Kind of a supergroup for the DC hardcore scene. Ian Mackaye (Teen Idles, Minor Threat, Embrace, owner of Dischord records), Guy Picciotto (Rites Of Spring), and Brendan Canty (Rites Of Spring).
