I made the mistake of not reading this post before I asked my question about Squire, and your corect in that they seem to have evolved into another "BRAND"-"SQUIRE". Now I realy want one for lots of resons thanks for the post. :D

OK, now that everybody's cool again it's time to point out that this thread does not belong here.

It belongs here:
http://www.fender.com/community/forums/viewforum.php?f=15&sid=2847cc334b9f1a1f275dfb73305df104

So from now on, keep all your (crappy) Squier threads out of this (better) Fender forum, OK?

I have had 2 Squiers in my guitar life. I have to admit that some are better than others, but it is the same way with Fender guitars. Not a hater of any Fender or Squier guitar; however, I definately play before I pay. Just my 2 cents.

Contradictory quotes taken right out of your first post and LOWER QUALITY PARTS... exactly why squiers are not as liked, plus a Fender is a Fender, in other words your reputation precedes you and Fender has a reputation so that little logo makes a world of difference. I don't have anything against Squiers, I have one myself (my first guitar), but they are beginner instruments that are not very good un-modded. Just saying...

Your all no doubt right in every case bar 1983-1987 Japanese fugen factory E series Squiers...These guitars are better than MIM's buy a counrty mile and better than most USA strats... Read up on what happened with this Violin Luthier in that period that Fender had to employ otherwise they were about to out do them with copy's, Play one and you'll be in on this great secret. I am in the fortunate position where as i can afford what i want, The 60's strat i cant justify but i am close to convincing myself i should own one...But back to the Point....My 85 Squier is my main player, It is such a lovley Guitar big and hevey like my SRV, Huge wide string spacing neck, Rwrp 50's style pick ups that even though i am modding sound great....Do yourself a favour fork out the coin should get one for 300-400 as people know what these are and it will blow all your other strats away.....

I understand your skepticism.... I was exactly the same on first hearing about them. I was very wrong, just like you are now.

A good setup does wonders for them. I don't run across a lot of haters.

yeah but they've gotta do something to keep it economic...i mean come on you can't expect seymour duncans on a 200 dollar guitar that's what duncan designed is for i find them as good alternatives to mod up a guitar... plus depending on the model i think a stock squier could be pretty good i played a nice affinity p bass a while back that wasn't bad

I pick up a Squier from time to time too. I dont see anything wrong for the price and I'm not afraid to put dents.

When I think back to my first electric guitar (a Teisco) and how absolutely horrid it was, I think I would've been tickled to death to have owned a Squier Strat instead. For their intended market at their specific price point, they get the job done -- both for FMIC and the customers who purchase them.

Arjay

Amen to that, Arjay! I have to admit that I myself own more than one Squier by Fender guitar and I don't think there's a dang thing wrong with any of them except for having the word Squier bigger than the word Fender on the headstock. My first Squier (way back in the mid 90s was a Vista Series Venus 12-string that listed for $995! Made in Japan and the quality is astounding.

My second Squier came to me by way of my playing partner, who bought it originally on eBay, then got desperate for something else and sold it to me along with two other guitars. It's the Tele Deluxe version with P-90s - a very well-made guitar that really cranks out the tone.

So purists beware, Squiers are not just for entry-level musicians. Besides, all the "entry-level" musicians I see at the local GC are playing American Standards and Les Pauls I doubt they'll ever be able to afford. :)
