I'll bet the one that's a sore thumb is the one with a determination to get things done. If so, just hand the running of the band over to him. If it doesn't work out, tell him so.

I just lost a excellent drummer (best I've heard ever) through that. He wanted to take control but was never given the chance by other members. So left.
Something I deeply regret.
Sort it out mate, get it all out in the open with Messer's Thumb and Fingers.

Leaders are like creem: They always rise to the top.If someone displays the talent and the desire let them have it and they will probably become your most valuable asett. It's the same in all work situations, and no one will argue that a good Mgr. is one of the most important Requirements. If he/she turnes out to be NG vote them out. :)
