I just won a used Marshall MHZ40C Haze 40 on eBay!! I heard one in a Music Store the other day and started looking around. I got this one for 1/2 of what a new would cost!!

Only bad thing about a lot of today's amps is their "Special Made" speakers. This one will of course get a Scumback Speaker!!

That's great news Chet and yet another sign that you're on the mend.I've played through a Haze and it's a deadly amp-I'd love to own one myself.

Chet though I'm no one to question your supremely good taste. Please don't dismiss Celestion as far as Modern Marshalls go. There's something big going on between the two companies at the moment.

Though yeah I agree Modern made for speakers are by and large, garbage.

Happy Haze day Chet. Time to get Sonically stripping paint.

3 of us sat around a new Haze in a guitar store the other day. Ran several different guitars through it, even tried a couple of fx pedals. There was just something about that speaker that didn't set well with any of us. I will try the stock speaker for a few days/week before I make a solid decision. However I do love them Scumbacks!!!

Yeah I know what you mean Chet, boxy sounding almost. It's something a lot of Marshall combo's suffer. I thought the speaker in there was a far eastern celestion???

What you really need to do is house the thing in a 4x10 walnut cab.

If you ever do decide on that course of action, check out the 15watt 10" (G10F15) Celestion used in the Class 5's. The bass response out of that thing is better than the Vintage 30. Massive low end, but it muds up when not pushed.

I don't know where the speaker was made (don't have the amp yet). We tried several SC guitars and were able to come close to a decent tone, but the H guitars we tried weren't even close. They were either to muddy or too trebley, there was no middle ground.
I'll see what happens in my own home environment with my own guitars and go from there.
