Huh,
I've been lurking on the forum for awhile, but I only registered about a week ago (after getting an American Standard... had squiers for ages, and a Telecoustic), but from what I've seen, these forums have a much nicer feel than so many others in the interwebs. Just reading the few posts from Ceri, Tim, Pappawookee, etc. have made the visits well worth it. But then maybe I have got used to ignoring stupid posts.

Mostly, I find the people here helpful and informative, willing to share great information. I don't usually have anything useful to add, so I just read :) . I'll add something now though... thanks to all you mature and informed posters, you help me enjoy playing my guitars, and make me feel I'm part of a special group of passionate people.

Jono

Welcome to the forums Jono. This typically is a very friendly forum, but just like any other community in the world there are brief periods of unrest; but things normally settle down pretty quickly.

Just saw this thread because I haven't been around here much for the exact reason you spoke of Tim. I would post something and get an incredibly sarcastic remark that wasn't necessary.

Hopefully this thread will reorient things and reignite civility. Hey, it's all fun learning about guitars.

The accelerated passion, emotion and sensitivity that leads us all to being musicians will always create the rhetorical feelings to the fantastic sensitivity we fell out of creating music. These rhetorical feelings are hypersensitivity to anything we feel passionate about, which in our case is just about everything... It's the nature of who we are.... I make a conscious effort to steel my self to the untoward side of my hypersensitivity and basically harden the $@!& up and not take everything personally and carry on like a princess.... Doesn't always work..... But it works for me most of the time.... Thought I'd share my honest theory... The way I think about it is it's all gettin a bit boo hoo around here if you don't like something don't partake in it... Simple really... Forums are for debate on subjects and being human opinions will differ...
I enjoy this place thank you for any opinion anyone has shared with me. I will always come back and hang out and converse but I ain't tiptoein around anyones sensitivity on the net or face to face. Like or loath I don't really care sorry... I will never set out to upset anyone... But really maybe a month or two in modern bride forum discussing tiara's will help some and then thay'll realize a bit of banter and debate ain't so hard and it's time to enjoy other musians talking about gear again and give up selling tickets to the end of the world huh!!!!!

Just a thought....
Rock out!!!!

Peace!!!

Music is the backbone of this forum, but lets not forget the human side of the equation. The word musians puts us in the forefront. Were all nothing but kids at hart, and a lot of us have never grown up and probably never will. Those of us that adorn that Badge of distinction are usually proud of it. I hang around this forum because its the onley place I know of to find so many other folks with such an intrest in music. I learn something new every day. The tom'foolery and joking around is also a big part of why I'm here. This is a wonderfull place and tech talk shold be tempered with fun ,be tolarent of others and learn. :) Buy Fender products and keep Leo, smileing down on us. :)

I always viewed forums and things on the internet like I do music. If I like it, I like it and present myself with it. If I dont, I pretend its not there. Now in person, its different but that doesnt belong here.

LOVE YOU ALL...yeah

WAIT WAIT referring to the 1st original post by Drake-- you guys are all guitar players? I think you are. Yes I do.

I'm glad I hang in the deep end with my buds. We all get along pretty good from what I can tell. Switch to bass. Become mellow and gain a sense of humor. It are good. Peace be with you.

I've been doing this guitar forum thing for a pretty long time. I started posting on forums in 1995 or 1996 back when they were called Bulletin Boards. Almost all of the forums go through this phase. The site starts out all well and good but then word gets out and it becomes popular which attracts the attention of the wierdos. There are people out there with some truly stupid ideas about guitars. I tried to be the voice of reason amid the chaos but I began to think it only fell on deaf ears so my visits to the forum have become less frequent and even when I do come around I think twice before posting as I don't really need the added aggravation in my life of some heated conflict over nonsense. There was a time I felt it was my responsibility as an old geezer to help the newbies and steer them in the right direction but I've gotten to the point where I just no longer care. You can only fight the tide for so long. In a year or two when the flamers and idiots have tired of this place and have moved on to new feeding grounds maybe then we can get back to normal. This is a part of the normal cycle for these kinds of forums. Of course once the population thins and the unwanteds leave then the problem typically becomes that the forum is just a good-old-boys club and if you don't share the same opinions and tow the party lines you are put in your place. This post may sound like it's meant to be depressing but it's not. It's just that I've seen this kind of change at least a half dozen times or more

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

I am glad someone started this thread. There was a similar one posted by "Windwalker" on the Strat forum. "What the hell happend to this forum" I have been posting for maybe a year and a half. It used to be a lot of fun but I find I come less and say less. There are some topics you just cannot have a calm logical discussion about. The "old guard" shows up and their attitude is:" we have discussed this topic before, we are tired of it, we have reached the correct conslusion. If you do not agree with us shut up, and if you even try a discussion we will stick around just dog you, cut you down. I have had it happen to me a couple of times and seen it so many more.

Well yes, this is a worldwide community and the truth of it is that not everyone is in the same place with experience and knowledge. Seems to me if your tired of a topic, or have nothing to add in a positive manner, then the best for all is to just ignore it and move along.
